Jenna’s Blog | Part Two

Hello again, yep it’s me, Taylas mum.

I’m writing another set of reviews today, this time about some Clinique products I have.  I put the brands I have together just for ease.  I think my next instalment is a mixture of products and brands, hopefully it won’t be too messy 😉
photo-2
I have been using the Clinique 3 step system for a few years and have got on with it brilliantly.  It’s only my curiousness and the price of Clinique that has made me venture into trying other products.  I got my Clinique bits and bobs when we went on holiday to Florida so with the exchange rate I paid quite a bit less than the prices I’ve listed.  The prices listed are from the Boots website and these are MY OPINIONS.

Liquid facial soap.  Combination oily to oily skin, 200ml, allergy tested.  Step 1. £16
Non scented.
Great soap, has a gentle lather and doesn’t leave my face feeling dry and tight.
My fall back facial soap, great stuff.

Clarifying lotion 3.  Combination oily, 487ml, allergy tested.  Step 2. £26 (for 400ml)
Says fragrance free but you can smell alcohol in it. Can also feel it tingle when swept over your skin, which I like.
I’ve not found it very good as an exfoliator like described on the bottle, good as a toner though.
I have the bottle with the pump in the top because I bought it in America, I don’t know if you can get the pump in the UK.

Dramatically different moisturising gel. Combination oily to oily skin,125ml, allergy tested. Step 3. £30.
Says fragrance free but I think it has a very light clean smell.
A little goes a long way, so you can use sparingly. Absorbs quickly and easily.  Doesn’t leave skin matte but not shiny either.
My fall back moisturiser, I have a new bottle in the cupboard ready to go.

Take the day off make up remover for lids, lashes and lips.  50ml, allergy tested. £17 (for 125ml)
This is Such a small bottle as i got this in a sample pack with another purchase.
Non scented.
This is the best waterproof eye makeup remover I have ever used!!! I love it so have been using it sparingly, making it last rather than buying a new bottle.  I’m so tight lol.  Would recommend it to anyone.  Never tried it on my lips though as I never have lips left on by the end of the day.

Repairwear intensive eye cream.  15ml, allergy tested, ophthalmologist tested.

(I don’t think they make this anymore so I can’t find a price)

A nice eye cream that isn’t at all greasy and is easily absorbed.  Feels lovely but not seen any difference on my lines and wrinkles.

Acne solutions cleansing foam.  125ml, salicylic acid acne medication. Allergy tested. £17.
Says fragrance free but has a slight medicated and sweet smell.
This product is also part of the 3 step system buy I only have this step. Cleanses your skin really well but be very careful near your eyes.  At the moment it’s too much for my skin so will probably end up giving it away.

Self sun body daily moisturiser.  Light/medium, 75ml, allergy tested. £19 (for 125 ml).
Says fragrance free but I think it has a rather strong scent, a funky buttery type smell.  It’s pretty much the same deal as the dove self tanning moisturiser, put a bit on each day and build it up each day until you get the desired colour.  Works great and created a beautiful light tan (great for us pale people). Doesn’t last that long but non of them do, shame it is stinky! I got this free in my sample pack with another purchase.

There you go, another set of reviews from my perspective.  Remember I am in my early 40’s so if you’re a young whippersnapper it will probably not apply to you. Anyway I hope someone finds this helpful 🙂

Until next time…..

Howdo!  Taylas mum here, back to do as requested by Tayla and write a few bits about beauty stuff I like.

photo
As you can see from the photo, I have acquired a few things from No7 recently.  I haven’t been using these products for very long, so far I am liking them a lot.  The things I have purchased have been on the recommendation from a couple of different sales ladies in Boots.  I always go to great lengths to explain that I have very very oily skin and would do anything short of involving needles/scalpels to get rid of my old lady eyes!

Trying to keep this post from turning into an essay, I thought I’d write short and sweet descriptions of each product I own.  Again, these are MY OPINIONS, I am not trained in anything to do with skin care, just a regular schmo 🙂

Beautiful skin night cream.  Normal/oily hypo-allergenic, 50ml, £13.50.
Lightly perfumed scent.
Light and quickly absorbed and non greasy.
I do wake up shiny, but so far it’s not blocked my pores or broken me out.

Beautiful skin day cream. Normal/oily, spf15, 5*uva, hypo-allergenic, 50ml, £12.50.
Again even lightlier (is that even a word?!) scented.
Feels thicker so takes a bit longer to absorb, but it’s non greasy.
Dries semi matte but I’ve found it doesn’t stay that way.  It’s not helped slow down the production of my oil.

Protect & perfect intense advanced serum.  Hypo allergenic, 30ml, £24.95.
Fragrance free.
Absorbs easily and non greasy.
Can’t say I see it doing anything extra for my skin though and I’ve been using this about a month longer than the other products. Says it should supercharge my skincare regime……wish it would hurry up and kick into action 😉

Lift & luminate eye cream. 5*uva, hypo allergenic, 15ml, £16
Lightly scented
Absorbs easily and non greasy
Not had it long enough to see if it works, I do have my fingers crossed though!

Beautiful skin eye make up remover. All skin types, hypo allergenic, 100ml, Phthalmologist tested, £8.50.
Fragrance free.
Works ace on waterproof mascara, great stuff and I will definitely be repurchasing.

Beautiful skin hot cloth cleanser.  All skin types, hypo allergenic, 200ml, £9.95.
The scent reminds me of my nan but not in an old lady way.
Comes with muslin cloth
Easy to use, leaves skin feelin soft and if you go over your lips it feels like butter.
Won this in a competition from Chelsea, wasn’t something I have ever been temped to by myself before but will now 🙂

Beautiful skin cleansing Brush. £24.95.
I got this beauty as a gift from my girls and I love, love, love it. It doesn’t use the batteries too quick, would be even more fab if it was rechargeable (why have I not put some rechargeable batteries in it then, such a div!). Just be careful of your hairline, I can assure you that you don’t want it catching – OUCHIE!

Completely quenched moisturising body lotion.  Hypo allergenic, 200ml, £10.50.
Smells lovely.
Doesn’t soak into my skin, not sure if my skin is just weird as I’ve read good reviews on it.  Maybe my skin just isn’t that dry. I shall probably use this on my dry feet, that’s always a good use for a rich moisturiser.

There you go, my review.  Well done if you’ve reached the end lol.  No7 is a great brand and like I’ve said I’m liking what I have.  There is always a promotion on with vouchers at the till or 3 for 2 offers which make most of these products very reasonably priced too!  Hope you’ve found something I’ve waffled on about helpful.

Until next time…..

Recent Favourites | Face

Hey Dolls,

I have once again been MIA but I have recently been in hospital and made some MAJOR changed to my life in general. I won’t go into details but I just wanted to apologise.

It is my first blog post since my name change as “Those Perfect Imperfections” and I am even in the process of making it my own domain! Yeehaar! The reason for my name changes and why I chose the name I did, is in the “My name is Tayla” section above, so don’t hesitate to take a look and share your thoughts. Don’t forget to share your URLs so I can have a nosy at your blogs too!!

Moving on then my beauties, today I am sharing with you a few of my recent favourites for your face! Skin care and Makeup included! Woohoo!

So , first I have this Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water.  I found this one on offer in Boots, so I couldn’t resist. I was intrigued as I have read about it and thought I had to try it. It promises to cleanse, remove makeup and soothe the skin. I can tell you now it does all of those things. I have relatively sensitive skin due to eczema and acne flare ups and I genuinely believe at the moment, my skin hasn’t felt so smooth and soft! It is hypoallergenic and isn’t perfumed. It is gentle enough to use on the eyes and the lips!

IMG_5249

It is normally £4.99 but at the moment is £3.99 so make sure you don’t miss out!

My other skin care products that I love, love, love are the Simple Rich Moisturiser, Nivea Q10 Night Cream and the Witch Primer.

IMG_5251

Simple Rich Moisturiser – £3.99 (currently 3for2 on Simple at Boots)

Nivea Q10 Night Cream – £9.99 (currently £4.99 at Boots)

Witch Anti Blemish Primer – £6.99 at Superdrug

I need a rich moisturiser as my skin is very damaged due to scarring and get very dry very quickly. I love the feeling of a nice thick moisturiser and face cream but this is definitely not too thick. It works fast and as it is from the simple range it is designed to be “Kind to Skin”.

The Nivea Q10 was given to me by my Mum because she wasn’t a fan. She has the opposite skin to me so she can be quite oily which makes some products to her difficult to use. Why she didn’t like it I’m not 100% sure but I think it was just a general dislike. I personally love it again because it has a nice thick texture. I like to know my products are working and this is one those that I can instantly feel working. It is always good to start on the anti wrinkle creams early to help prevent the buggers!

The Witch Primer was recommended to me by my sister, Shannan. I find that it genuinely has helped my acne especially after all the drugs from being in hospital. It helps fill in my pores to create a smooth base ready for my foundation and it does this without clogging them. Exactly what I look for in a primer. It is oil and fragrance free so again, perfect for the sensitive skin!

I think I have made it clear I like a thick face cream, I also like a heavy coverage on my face with my foundations. I know it sounds a lot, but I am self conscious of my skin because of the damage teenage acne caused me :(. I find that Max Factor foundations give me the great coverage I want without the cake face that everyone dreads. I use the cover stick on it’s when I am having a great skin day, but I will use the cover stick underneath the foundation as a good base when my skin isn’t so great. I always try to the palest shades to compliment my skin. The coverage makes me feel like for once I have flawless skin so at the moment it is all I wear! I have previously wrote about the Colour Adapt, and you can find that HERE. The Lasting Performance, once again Max Factor has kept their promise, and it does exactly what it says on the tin. I am SO impressed with Max Factor, the have a devoted customer in me! ALL MAX FACTOR CURRENTLY 3 for 2 IN BOOTS

Colour Adapt Foundation – £9.99 in Boots

Lasting Performance Foundation – £9.99 in Boots

Pan Stick – £6.99 in Boots

I am one of those crazy people who CANNOT live without a powder. I hate the dewy finish because it makes me feel like I am greasy and slipping around the place. It is very rare I stick to the same powder and it is very rare I have more than one at a time. I don’t know why but it is the only product that I don’t have loads of! At the moment I am wearing Essence. Oh my god ladies, get to Wilko NOW! I found out about Essence through tonnes of bloggers around Europe and how my mother nagged me to buy her some when I went to Spain. I came back from Spain to this beauty in Wilko and I can’t believe the quality of all their products for the price! The Powder is amaze balls for the price and I must say I will repurchase! I get a little oily at certain times of the month and I find that it isn’t strong enough to hold through the oil all day, but it takes seconds for a quick top up and so I don’t even care! It is from the Mattifying Range so gives me the lovely matte look that I love.

 IMG_4854

The Rimmel Wake Me Up is a little gem found in Poundland of all places. I use it when I looking for an all day coverage and it helps my powder hold that little bit better. If I am looking for a light coverage for a more natural look, again this is amazing! It doesn’t leave me feeling greasy and holds in place.

The ELF blusher is a beauty. It is perfect for a night out simply because it has a little bit more glitter that you would wear for a day time blush, but the pigmentation is great for the price. I have had this blush for over a year now and it’s still going so you don’t even need to use much at one time! Perfection!

The MUA highlighter is so inexpensive that I had to buy it. MUA is only sold in Superdrug at all their products are super pigmented. I have nearly all their eyeshadow palettes so I knew this would be great little product. Although its great it can take the smallest amount to be too much. If you apply too much it can leave you looking too shiny, so just be careful when applying!

Essence Mattifying Powder – £2.80 Wilko

Rimmel Wake Me Up Liquid Blush – £1 Poundland

ELF Blush – £3.95

MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter – £3.00 Superdrug (Currently 3 for 2)

I did have loads of eye makeup to show you as well but I will save that for part 2 tomorrow so make sure you check it out.

Goodbye for now my loves! xo

In my little collection, that was added to at christmas includes:

Nivea Deodorant: Roll on and spray – Stress protect

Nivea Face Wipes: For normal and combination skin

Nivea Moisturiser: Soft – for Face/Body/Hands (75ml and the gigantic tub)

                             Firming – Body lotion

Nivea Primer: Express Hydrating (amazing)

Nivea Lip Balm: Essential Care

                          Soothe and Protect

Pearly Shine (not in the picture but tends to be in pink packaging to leave a pink tint to the lips)

As you can tell I am absolutely crazy about Nivea, and it all started with the Face/hand/body moisturiser. It was when I went to a trip to Home Bargains when it first opened locally, and it was just one of those things you pick up mindlessly because you need it and it was cheap. It was such a good price and have never turned back! The tubes I use to moisturise my hands and face first thing in the morning and the larger tub I use on my body. It has a non-greasy and thick texture which is why I love it. I just cannot stand super runny and oily moisturisers. They make me feel I need to wash my hands. Because it is quite thick, I do love using it after the face wipes in the morning to freshen my face up, because of the feeling it leaves. I feel that it helping me hide and fill all the scarring on my skin from the years of neglect. The face wipes are available in Savers (twin pack for £1.99) Literally the best deal out there without a doubt, otherwise you will find stores charging £3 for 1 packet – not cool.

I then use the Primer in the morning after the moisturiser. It does seem a bit much using a moisturiser and then an express hydrating primer right after, but my skin is seriously in need of some TLC and since starting this routine first thing in the morning, I am noticing a dramatic difference in how my face looks and feels – To start with I am not hiding behind my bangs anymore and that forehead has made its debut! haha! I have written about the Primer before but it genuinely so amazing! Some primers can leave a slidey texture to your face and make it even feel oily, but this does the complete opposite. It leaves a nice healthy, fresh skin feeling and I can’t stop touching my face when I have applied it. It is about £4.99 in most shops but you only need a small amount, and as it is a large pot it does last me a couple months at a time! Buy it, go go go, I promise – it will not disappoint.

The Soothe and Protect lip balm has been yet another life saver for me and is the first EVER lip balm I have used to the very end. The majority of the time I lose them or find a better one and end up leaving it on the side for months that I will just chuck it away. One thing I love about it is that it glides on smoothly and fills the lips in nicely. It fixes my chapped lips within hours and is even SPF15 so I use it constantly during the summer. The Essential Care one was bought in Poundland so was a bargain and have been using that since I ran out of my little light blue one 😦 sob sob. It isn’t as good, it feels a little bit more greasy – which I don’t like, but that is personal preference. It does the healing and protecting the gob just as well! The pearly shine is exactly the same as the Soothe and Protect but which a pinky hint to the stick. Perfect if you can’t be bothered to apply a lippy but still want a tint of colour.

My stress Protect is another amazing product. Walking up what seems like the Alps on my way home from work, it do get a little hot and sweaty and there is nothing worse than having that unpleasant smell being detected by your boyfriend when you take your coat off (most embarrassing thing ever, even if you do live together) I knew right then it was time for a new deodorant. By this time I was already falling in love with Nivea and I just had to buy it, to find out if Nivea would ever let me down. And once again – they didn’t. I do feel sweaty sometimes but honestly find that I am not smelly (always a bonus). Woohoo!!! I am more of a spray kinda gal but I received the roll on for Christmas, and I was completely shocked that I liked using it. Walking around like a monkey to let it dry before getting dressed though, not the most attractive thing ever, but the things you do to smell and feel good!

Have you ever tried Nivea? Whats your favourite product?
