Face | Hiding The Madness

Hey There Pretties!

Today I write to you, sat on my couch, in the dark watching some thunder and lightening. This autumn weather has been AMAZING and really is my fave time of year!

We are finally mid week! YAY so we can all do the mid week boogie! As I am not working at the mo I will join in for the sake of it, but there is just nothing to hate about a Wednesday! (I am not working because I am a bum, just simply some issues were had at my previous place of work and the surgery I had just kicked my ass just FYI. I am almost healed and have a job lined up, but I will leave that for another day).

I am also in the process of a new project, I am just sorting out the little details and should be able to share with you in the next few days! Another YAY!

However, today will only be a short blog. I am in 3rd day of my Blogging frenzy and wasn’t sure what to share with you all.

This morning I woke up and realised my Doctors appointment was early that expected so I didn’t really have time with gaffing around with makeup so just covered my face, applied a small amount of mascara and rushed out the door.

So, whilst I was deciding what it was I wanted to write about, I thought I would do my makeup all fancy (The downside being I had no where to wear it 😦 ). I took what little makeup I had off and thought that my skin was just dreadful so I decided to write about how I cover my horrible scarring, redness and extra blemishes when my skin is at it’s worst. I have had worse skin than I do now, but it is the first time I have noticed it being too horrible in a while.

I tend to have bad skin when Aunt Flow visits… When I get ill…. or apparently just for fun every now and again. This is not unusual for women and as long as daily routines and effort is put into looking after your skin, you will reap the rewards.

Ramble over. Here is a before pic…

And here are the products I used…

Max Factor Lasting Performance in Fair

ELF Cosmetics Cover Stick in Ivory

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Neutral

And here is the after…

(I filled in my brows and did add a small amount of blush, but I think you can get the idea of how much different my skin looks).

How did I apply them you ask?

After moisturising and priming I added my ELF Cosmetics Cover Stick FIRST. Yes, you read that correctly. I applied it where the redness was looking most angry. This allows a little extra coverage. I do not blend in, I go straight ahead and apply the Max Factor Foundation over the top, blending in with a Real Techniques Buffing Brush. I LOVE this brush and the finish it gives my skin.

I then add any extra cover stick where necessary and then just buff in the powder gently. I can’t live without powder. I am not a fan of the dewy finish, I love a matte finish, but just add as much as you feel feel most comfortable with.

Here is a just a wee cheeky selfie of the complete look I went for.

And there you have it.

Goodbye for now my loves xo

My Empties!

Good Evening My Lovelies!

Hope you are all doing well! I thought it was about time that I wrote you another blog so I have been brainstorming to see what I can share with you and then it hit me.

A while back, I was shopping in one of our local budget department stores (I think that is what you could class it as), Trago Mills. Basically they sell anything you can imagine from furniture to plants to stationary, even all the little weird and wonderful things that you didn’t actually realise you need! I found this cute little pink bin, that at the time thought would be perfect for my car as my boyfriend is literally the worst at keeping it clean and tidy! But it wasn’t ideal and believe it or not, not big enough for the big mess he makes!

So it just sat in my bedroom to add a little character, gathering dust. For a while now I have been toying with the idea to share with you some of the empty products I use but I always just naturally throw them away without even thinking! So you can imagine my delight when that little light bulb in my head was flashing!!

Here is the little guy.. !

I have now decided to use it for my empty products and when I have enough of a collection, I can share with you all my thoughts and whether or not I am in a hurry to run down to the shops and purchase it all once again!

Shall we get started before I start to bore you all with my ramble already? Right then, here goes…

To start with, I have the Nivea Invisible Black & White Anti-Perspirant Deodorant Spray. The promise is that it is deigned to be a clear spray to protect white marks on black clothes and yellow stains on white clothes, 48hour protection, it’s gentle on the skin and is alcohol and colorant free. These are all great but do they work? Meh. I wasn’t impressed and extremely disappointed because Nivea have to be my all time favourite brand. It smells fresh which I love, but I wouldn’t say it lasts 48hours (Nor would I particularly expect it to as I shower everyday!!) It is a clear spray and never had a problem with that horrible white fall out when you move your arm after spraying. Its not as protecting as I would like, but I probably would purchase in the winter for that lighter fresher feel.

My Lacoste Touch of Pink Perfume has to be one of my all time favourites! It smells so nice and I am completely gutted that it has finally run out! I’m not going to spend too much time on this one because there is only so much you can say about a spray, but it is rare I find sprays that I love simply because smells can be a major trigger for my migraines. Because it is a light and fresh smell it really doesn’t cause any headaches at all 🙂 Perfection! (Plus I love that it’s Pink!)

The Moroccan Argan Hair Oil by Organic World is designed for moisture repair and damage control. I apply it on damp hair and then again when I have finished styling it. Just a small pea sized amount each time. I found that it smells lovely and isn’t too heavy of an oil. It helps deduct time from my blow drying time and leaves a nice healthy shine to my hair. I am not 100% sure where it was bought as I do believe it was a stocking filler bought for me last Christmas (I have so many oils, it takes me a while to get through them all!)

The Rimmel 60 Second Nail Varnish in Caramel Cupcake is literally my all time favourite go-to colour. It is natural for all those that aren’t allowed a strong nail colour to school or work and it does genuinely dry super quick. I actually bought two of these when I last stocked up and is a regular purchase for me! I love love love it!! My only down fall with any quick drying nail varnish is that they do dry out in the bottle a lot quicker, however that doesn’t bother me because I am just a fidget when I have painted my nails and Rimmel especially have the best colours!

The Avon Lipstick in “Pink Pop” was gifted to me actually a couple of christmases ago by my dear friend Chelsea. It was my go to daytime colour for when I worked or just looked for that ‘perfect subtle pink’. It had a hint of shine and glitter making it pop, but it was the perfect colour for me! I would buy it again but it appears to be discontinued! 😦

And finally! The two concealers I have I have relatively recently written about.(Click here) My E.L.F Cosmetics cover stick in Ivory is genuinely one of my favourite concealers because the coverage is just incredible for the price. The colour is ideal for my complexion. It is of a thick heavy coverage but doesn’t feel greasy or heavy once blended! The Essence is perfect consistency and coverage especially for the under eye coverage. However the colour was a little too dark for my skin. I will have to double check that I did buy the palest colour. If it is the palest then I probably won’t buy it again or will buy for when I next go on holiday as it was ideal last time!

And there you have it! Have you tried any of the above products? Let me know!

Goodbye for now my loves xo

Recent Favourites | Face

Hey Dolls,

I have once again been MIA but I have recently been in hospital and made some MAJOR changed to my life in general. I won’t go into details but I just wanted to apologise.

It is my first blog post since my name change as “Those Perfect Imperfections” and I am even in the process of making it my own domain! Yeehaar! The reason for my name changes and why I chose the name I did, is in the “My name is Tayla” section above, so don’t hesitate to take a look and share your thoughts. Don’t forget to share your URLs so I can have a nosy at your blogs too!!

Moving on then my beauties, today I am sharing with you a few of my recent favourites for your face! Skin care and Makeup included! Woohoo!

So , first I have this Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water.  I found this one on offer in Boots, so I couldn’t resist. I was intrigued as I have read about it and thought I had to try it. It promises to cleanse, remove makeup and soothe the skin. I can tell you now it does all of those things. I have relatively sensitive skin due to eczema and acne flare ups and I genuinely believe at the moment, my skin hasn’t felt so smooth and soft! It is hypoallergenic and isn’t perfumed. It is gentle enough to use on the eyes and the lips!

It is normally £4.99 but at the moment is £3.99 so make sure you don’t miss out!

My other skin care products that I love, love, love are the Simple Rich Moisturiser, Nivea Q10 Night Cream and the Witch Primer.

Simple Rich Moisturiser – £3.99 (currently 3for2 on Simple at Boots)

Nivea Q10 Night Cream – £9.99 (currently £4.99 at Boots)

Witch Anti Blemish Primer – £6.99 at Superdrug

I need a rich moisturiser as my skin is very damaged due to scarring and get very dry very quickly. I love the feeling of a nice thick moisturiser and face cream but this is definitely not too thick. It works fast and as it is from the simple range it is designed to be “Kind to Skin”.

The Nivea Q10 was given to me by my Mum because she wasn’t a fan. She has the opposite skin to me so she can be quite oily which makes some products to her difficult to use. Why she didn’t like it I’m not 100% sure but I think it was just a general dislike. I personally love it again because it has a nice thick texture. I like to know my products are working and this is one those that I can instantly feel working. It is always good to start on the anti wrinkle creams early to help prevent the buggers!

The Witch Primer was recommended to me by my sister, Shannan. I find that it genuinely has helped my acne especially after all the drugs from being in hospital. It helps fill in my pores to create a smooth base ready for my foundation and it does this without clogging them. Exactly what I look for in a primer. It is oil and fragrance free so again, perfect for the sensitive skin!

I think I have made it clear I like a thick face cream, I also like a heavy coverage on my face with my foundations. I know it sounds a lot, but I am self conscious of my skin because of the damage teenage acne caused me :(. I find that Max Factor foundations give me the great coverage I want without the cake face that everyone dreads. I use the cover stick on it’s when I am having a great skin day, but I will use the cover stick underneath the foundation as a good base when my skin isn’t so great. I always try to the palest shades to compliment my skin. The coverage makes me feel like for once I have flawless skin so at the moment it is all I wear! I have previously wrote about the Colour Adapt, and you can find that HERE. The Lasting Performance, once again Max Factor has kept their promise, and it does exactly what it says on the tin. I am SO impressed with Max Factor, the have a devoted customer in me! ALL MAX FACTOR CURRENTLY 3 for 2 IN BOOTS

Colour Adapt Foundation – £9.99 in Boots

Lasting Performance Foundation – £9.99 in Boots

Pan Stick – £6.99 in Boots

I am one of those crazy people who CANNOT live without a powder. I hate the dewy finish because it makes me feel like I am greasy and slipping around the place. It is very rare I stick to the same powder and it is very rare I have more than one at a time. I don’t know why but it is the only product that I don’t have loads of! At the moment I am wearing Essence. Oh my god ladies, get to Wilko NOW! I found out about Essence through tonnes of bloggers around Europe and how my mother nagged me to buy her some when I went to Spain. I came back from Spain to this beauty in Wilko and I can’t believe the quality of all their products for the price! The Powder is amaze balls for the price and I must say I will repurchase! I get a little oily at certain times of the month and I find that it isn’t strong enough to hold through the oil all day, but it takes seconds for a quick top up and so I don’t even care! It is from the Mattifying Range so gives me the lovely matte look that I love.

The Rimmel Wake Me Up is a little gem found in Poundland of all places. I use it when I looking for an all day coverage and it helps my powder hold that little bit better. If I am looking for a light coverage for a more natural look, again this is amazing! It doesn’t leave me feeling greasy and holds in place.

The ELF blusher is a beauty. It is perfect for a night out simply because it has a little bit more glitter that you would wear for a day time blush, but the pigmentation is great for the price. I have had this blush for over a year now and it’s still going so you don’t even need to use much at one time! Perfection!

The MUA highlighter is so inexpensive that I had to buy it. MUA is only sold in Superdrug at all their products are super pigmented. I have nearly all their eyeshadow palettes so I knew this would be great little product. Although its great it can take the smallest amount to be too much. If you apply too much it can leave you looking too shiny, so just be careful when applying!

Essence Mattifying Powder – £2.80 Wilko

Rimmel Wake Me Up Liquid Blush – £1 Poundland

ELF Blush – £3.95

MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter – £3.00 Superdrug (Currently 3 for 2)

I did have loads of eye makeup to show you as well but I will save that for part 2 tomorrow so make sure you check it out.

Goodbye for now my loves! xo

Experiment | Letting Your Boyfriend Do Your Make Up

Hey guys.

If you are reading this post, I really would like to say thank you. I have put a lot of effort into blogging and looking at everyone who sends their blog links to me. I will always read, share and follow, especially on social networking – mainly Twitter. @writtenbytayla. But I will so been branching out into the world of Facebook and creating a page on there so keep a look out.

Moving on swiftly…. the title of today’s blog pretty much speaks for it’s self. I have in fact let my boyfriend, Dan, take control of my face. He was willing to help me with a blog post and we came up with this as a way for him to get involved. 🙂 so grateful for his help and him supporting me.

So I gave him a list of what needs to be used, and for him to choose from my collection. Here is what he chose…

*Disclaimer – sorry about the poor photos, it was a spur of the moment experiment and some bulbs in our house has unfortunately gone. 😦 *

PrimerELF Mineral Infused

FoundationELF HD Mattifying Cream Foundation (oil free) PREVIOUS POST

-ConcealerELF Cover Stick

-PowderELF Booster

-BlushCover Girl (bought in USA in 2012)

-BrowsRimmel Pencil

-ShadowELF Palette

-MascaraNYC Big Curl

Right so there is everything. I have linked up all the products and which products I have posted about previously with the link to that too, so you know where to find them with the prices. He didn’t know what he was picking – as he is clueless when it comes to makeup and products. So it was unintentional that the products he chose were ELF. But at least he picked the affordable products – not that I buy any other kind! This blog is all about the budget baby!

So we have stage one – no makeup. Making the task even more difficult for him, I have unfortunately poor skin right now. Very red and a few angry looking spots. It happens sometimes no matter what products I am using to help.

The only instruction I gave him was “make me look like you would be happy to be seen outside the house with me”. There was no particular occasion given, just he had to be happy to see my looking like this.

He accepted his challenge and then began. As he was unsure of what products did what, the only thing I told him was what they were and what they were used for. He knew the basics – foundation covers the face and mascara the lashes, but primer was something he had not heard of.

Applying the primer consisted of dragging his hands down my face – some what amusing for him.

He applied my ELF primer and then went straight into the foundation. It was a cream foundation applies with the round sponge given and he covered. He then found the redness in my spots were too much for the foundation and applied the cover stick followed by the booster, Telling him the booster was to set the foundation into place otherwise I would slide around all greasy. (not cool)

The Cover girl blush was almost all gone, so he struggled to apply this, but just applied in circular motion on the apples of my cheeks – just like a doll.

Eyebrows – my poor poor eyebrows…

Eye shadow followed and he said “You where a lot of purple so I choose that”. My face was in shock. I am not a fan of bright purples on my eyes as I do suffer with dark shadows so I always appear to look like I have been punched in the face. He literally slabbed it on with no blending or other colour just a shocking purple.

He got extremely excited when he picked up my eyeliner and his eyes lit up. He knew what he wanted to do and there was no stopping him. I asked him to be gentle as eyeliners are my babies, and this one was received in my new BirchBox (review in my previous post). I felt the tip hit my temple and I knew I was screwed from that very moment. He was worried about applying the mascara as it was a really chunky brush, but he carried on and was careful.

The lipstick was applied just on my bottom lip and he asked me “rub my lips together” to spread the colour.

And then he was done. How beautiful, right?

From there, what I decided to do was use the exact products again and create my own look and show him how it is really done. I am not a professional makeup artist, and the lighting is rubbish because my bedroom light bulb went, so I am sorry about that, but I used the tools I had and carried on.

Here is my step by step picture timeline…

I think I prefer my look, and have no intention of letting him do my makeup again. Unless I was joining the circus…

Would you let your partner loose with your makeup and your face? I challenge you do this and share your pics with me on Twitter. Might have a cheeky giveaway if I get enough sent to me and get Dan to choose the winner 🙂 If I have a few entries before the end of the week I will go ahead with the prize.

Raising Money For Charity | I Have Been Tagged Too!

Hey cuties!

It is Friday night and I am indoors typing to you all whilst my nails dry! I do lead an interesting life! Here they are:

Nothing Fancy, but a nice deep dark blue (an RCH nail polish bought for me for xmas, but can be found in Boots as part of a gift set. unsure if they can be found individually) and then we have the Rimmel London Space Dust range. I believe there are only 3 colours and I have all 3. They are absolutely beautiful and the colouring is great. Only down side is that my nails feel all rough, not so bad with a top coat but still can be felt. Irritating but I can live with that as they are just too darn beautiful!

Before I start tonights blog I do want to share a page which has been set up to raise some money for 7 charities. How it works is a very generous person on my Facebook friends list, Leanne, has organised 7 events for 7 different charities over 7 days. Ranging from Cocktail evenings with raffles to skydiving it offers opportunities for them to be sponsored as well as people enjoying themselves at events whilst donating money.

I am aware that obviously you may not be local but I would really appreciate it if you took the time to look at the funding page and either donate some money or just spread the word. Every little counts so if all you can spare is £1 it will all add up. Sharing with your friends on social networking sites also would be amazing and see if we can help her reach her target.

Here is the link: http://www.gofundme.com/7events7days

If you do donate or spread the word I would really appreciate if you just let me know in the comments below so I can tell Leanne how amazing my readers and followers are 🙂

I have been tagged by a dear friend of mine over at Chelsea Talks. She has recently started up her blog, and is an insane fan of E.L.F products.

This tag is just answering a few questions about myself, I may or may not have answered a couple of them before, but I do like to give all my lovely readers an insight into myself and get to know me that little bit more. I really struggle to talk about interesting things about myself, which is why I don’t mind joining in on the tags 🙂

So, here goes…

 1. Nicknames:  I don’t particularly have any nicknames, Tay is what a lot of my chums call me (my mum hates it though haha) and some family call me Tails. My mum calls me Puddin’ Pop, because, let’s face it, she’s cool like that!

2. Location:  I have always lived in a little seaside down in the South West of England, in good ol’ Devon. I love living by the sea and having a few small cities nearby. London is dirty and horrible, but of course that is just my opinion, but big dirty cities will not stop me from one day visiting New York!!

3. Height: Standing at short 5ft 2in I struggle with my weight. I am not fat by any means, but I am insecure and pictures just are not flattering. I just feel that being small doesn’t always have its advantages! Though I do love it 🙂

4. Hair: I have naturally curly, red hair. There is a lot of negativity surrounding red heads and it has given me a negative view of myself. One day I will be brave enough to rock the natural hair but for now I am a brunette

5. Pet Peeves: Snoring and eating with mouths open grind my gears!!!! I cannot stand it!! I know it is pretty standard amongst most people, but dude serious, shut that gob!! Feet do gross me out too!

6. Habits: I feel that my habits aren’t as bad as most. I do not smoke or take drugs. I don’t drink alcohol very often. I don’t bite my nails (anymore). I don’t know if this is a habit, but more of an OCD thing I suppose, but when I brush my teeth, I HAVE to wash my hands after. Otherwise they feel hot and dirty. Who knows why but I cannot stop thinking about them until they are washed!!

7. Sight: I do need to wear glasses. They were originally just for reading and things like that, but now its all the time. When am I not using a computer, driving or watching tv? I am always reading things on my phone, at work using computers or driving around somewhere, so I do rely on them a lot more. I don’t wear them all the time, they get in the way, but I do rock my Kardashian Glasses purchased at Sears in LA.

8. First Memory: The first memory I have is of me falling down the stairs in someone’s house. I do not know how old I was but I really wasn’t that old. I remember that I needed the toilet and someone had to accompany me up the stairs and on the way back down I was briefly let go of, and I tumbled right down. I had stitches in the back of my head, and if you root through my hair and white scar can be found (so I have been told). I remember having a flannel held to my head in the back of car on the way to the hospital. I find it fascinating that people can remember things so far back in their childhood!

9. Starsign: I am infact an October baby so Scorpio is my sign. A red head and Scorpio you say? Yep, quiet and keep to myself but I do have a feisty, fiery side, that can be dangerous! haha!!

10. Career Objectives: I have always decided on something and changed my mind. I have wanted to be a Lawyer, Midwife, Photographer, writer, everything, but as it stands anything in the beauty and makeup industry will do me fine. Taking it step by step I just hope to be successful in whatever I find myself doing and that is all I can hope for. Being happy is something that people forget about when choosing their career, and it doesn’t matter how much money is being made, if it doesn’t make you happy, you will never feel that sense of accomplishment that I think everyone should feel throughout their working life.

11. Education: I studied for my GCSE’s and A-Levels at the same school. I don’t fully regret taking any of my chosen subjects but for the insdustry I choose my career path to me now, none of them suit and going back to get the relevant qualifications can be pricey. I have 3 Alevels – Photography, English Language and Sociology. I love these topics and find them all to be interesting in different ways. Variety was something I aimed for so I could broaden by career search and keep my options open when I left school. I chose not to go straight into uni because I was unsure of what I wanted to do. I feel that it costs too much now to spend weeks and term time drinking all the time (yes, I am old) and would want to keep my head down and achieve what I know I am capable of. Unfortunately other people do not share the same opinions as myself and that would be too distracting for me. I will go eventually but when I have some work experience behind me.

12. TV: I love my girlie programmes, Sex and The City and Desperate Housewives being favourites of mine, but I do like to mix it up with some Big Bang Theory, New Girl and even really really enjoyed Breaking Bad. If you haven’t watched them, then GO.

13. Celeb Sightings: On our travels to LA we expected to see celebs everywhere! We were infact wrong. We did however get to see some filmings at The Grove of The Voice judges, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green, with Mario Lopez interviewing so that was exciting. Not to forget getting to meet David Spade in the Cheesecake Factory at the The Grove too on a completely different day. Always a good day when that happens!

14. Weird: When I was a little tiny child, I used to love watching Star Trek and Singing the theme song to Bad Boys. Clearly I was a very interesting and talented child. I also can make my eyeballs squeak. It sounds like you are polishing a glass table, but the noise genuinely comes from my eyeballs.

15. Crushing:  I have many celeb crushes, just think of all the Hollywood hunks, but I am known for my girl crushes too! I am don’t fancy women or anything like that, but lets face it, girls have their girl crushes and men have their man crushes. Kelly Clarkson and Demi Lovato are my crushes at the moment. They are such beautiful women who are so talented and their music is soooo good. I listen to them all the time and are probably my most listened to. My music taste is extremely random and have many genres, but at the moment they are my fave.

16. Favourites: I could spend forever telling you all my favourite things in this world, but my all time favourites are my mum and my 2 sisters. I could not live without them, they are genuinely my rocks. No matter what is said in a heated argument or if I don’t see them for a week or so but they genuinely are the loves of my lives. This picture below just about explains our relationships and how much fun we can have together. Yes that’s my mum in the background in her wheelchair being pushed by my sister. This is in fact the best photo bomb EVER.

Chelsea did write 30 facts about herself, but unfortunately I couldn’t think of 30 and you will probably pick up more about me from my posts than me listing lots of random facts. Narrowing them all down to be interesting is proving rather difficult!! Anything you want to know about though, please do not be scared to ask me 🙂

I will be back over the weekend with review of my new Real Techniques Beauty Blender Sponge and my Rimmel Apocalypse Lip colour. (I accidentally bought the tester otherwise that would have been tonights post, DO NOT SHOP IN A RUSH!)

But for now,

Thanks once again for reading. Please do share the charity page and my blog and we will see if we can help Leanne reach her target.
