I Have Been TAGGED: “Would You Rather”

Hey guys,

A fellow Blogger of mine, http://forvanityssake.wordpress.com  has tagged me to answer a few “would you rather”, beauty related questions.

So here goes!

1. Would you rather lose all your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks and lip glosses or lose all of your palettes and eyeshadows?

Is there any way I can exchange eyeshdows for lips? Ahh I suppose I should answer properly 😦 I hate to say this but it would have to be my palettes and eyeshadows. There are some great eyeliners out there that you can create the same sort of effect as eyeshadows with the art of blending and using the right tools properly. My eyeliners and Mascaras are, without fail, applied everyday.

2. Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?

My first thought would be to grow it all out. (how amazing would that be?) but I would love to be brave enough to chop it all off and start again from scratch! I would love my natural curl back instead of my usual frizzy state from using bleach and heat!

3. Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?

Pink without a doubt. I have the wrong complexion for coral.

4. If you had $1000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or makeup?

Can I go 50/50? I do not have enough of either!

5. Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner or eyeliner as lipstick?

Eyeliner as lipstick! Such a variety of colour and materials out there to be used. pencils, liquids, felt pens, crayons…the list is endless and could easily be experimented with!

6. Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?

As an english girl, I would have to stick to MAC in the UK, but with all the things I have heard about Sephora, I NEED to see it all for myself!! Take me back to the US someone! Please?

7. Would you rather only use one eyeshadow colour or one lip colour for the rest of your life?

One lip colour for sure. I tend to stick to pink or red, but love my eyeshadows and experimenting with them when I am not rushing around to get ready! Typical girl, me.

8. Would you rather wear winter clothes in the summer or summer clothes in winter?

This is SO difficult for me. I love my snuggly winter clothes, but It is definitely too hot to wear them in the summer. I don’t quite feel comfortable in summer clothes because of my weight and love hiding behind big fluffy jumpers. But I will say winter in the summer, I live in the UK so we only have summer for about 3 days a year. 😉

9. Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?

Dark nails! I love colours, but when I wear my dark, blood red, I LOVE it!!!

10. Would you rather give up your favourite lip product or your favourite eye product?

Lip product definitely. Simply because, without sounding big headed, I love how my eyes look all made up!!

11. Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun?

Easier for my hair to be in a messy bun as it is always messy but recently I have been rocking the high pony!

12. Would you rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lip gloss?

I would definitely rather never wear lip gloss. I don’t often wear it anyway!

13. Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none or Sharpie them in everyday?

I would rather sharpie them. I tend to colour mine slightly darker anyway as I have lighter coloured brows. Have you not tried to photoshop people’s eyebrows off?? SO freaky!!

14. Would you rather live without makeup or nail polish?

I hate to say it, but would rather live without nails. If you saw me without makeup, you would understand 😉

I am really new to WordPress 😦 so please forgive me when I say, I don’t know how to tag other users 😦 I have tried to google it, but nothing has worked!!!!!! No judgement here please 😦

Love to all x

The Key to Colour!

Hey there!

So we all know I’m not one to spend horrid amounts of money, but I will also do what I can to feel good and try my best to look good too!

This means accessorising!

I’m going to tell you how I got to my recent DIY before I show you what I did…

Basically, I moved house about 3 weeks ago and for all that time we lived with only having one key between the two of us! There was a time where my partner heard me say ‘I’ve taken the key, see you later’ whilst walking out the door. This was completely wrong and I said ‘I don’t have the Key so make sure you’re in when I finish work.’

He is a pain in the backside sometimes! Ha! So what happened was, he decided that he was going to go out, obviously forgetting the key! Lets just say he had to climb a ladder and break in to our own flat! What a wally, right?

But this week we finally got round to getting all the keys cut, and so I have my own set of keys, hurrah!!!!

When he got them cut, he asked if I wanted to get a colour or a design or pattern put on the key.

My first thought was ‘yes, I want to be girlie and glam up my keys’. And then he decided to tell me the prices. My next thought being ‘errrrrrrrm…no’.

I was a bit gutted because I love jazzing up anything I can!

Thinking today, a lightbulb lit up my teenie tiny brain. I remember a few months ago I was browsing the web, like you do, and saw someone had actually painted the tips of their keys.

Right, I came home and I was all over this!!!

I chose to use my nail varnishes and I have tonnes if them!!! And here is how I did it….

Take your key..

And paint it with a white nail varnish…

You need the white to make sure you have a base for the colour you choose and it brightens it up too!! So choose your colour and paint!

Here are my final products 🙂

One advice I would give to you when painting them, would be to try and use a quick dry paint. And paint one side and let that dry before you paint the other! Me getting excited about how they are going to look, I spent a good half hour waving them to get them to dry!

Maybe I’m the wally!

If any of you paint yours, make sure you show me!

Good night xo

I Have A Treat For You!

Hello there Guys and Girls,

I have a treat for you all these evening!!!

Do you remember my previous post “I am a Coco-nut”?? Well When I made this product, I made it with one of my best friends! So I asked her if she could write a blog post for me as a guest blogger. As she is truly amazing, she agreed to do so! I asked her so you guys could really understand why I am so excited about this particular product and so you could have a second opinion on it.

So here goes, this is what my good friend Chelsea had to say….

I’m going coco-nuts!!

Hello to the viewers of Tayla’s blog.

I’m her friend Chelsea, she has asked me to be a guest blogger and share my thoughts and experiences with you on our most recent beauty bargain item… The Coconut Oil.

Personally, I LOVE IT!

As Tayla and I don’t believe in spending an arm and a leg for the “best” (COUGH most expensive) we love looking for beauty DIY’s so we can look good and feel happy knowing our purses haven’t been ransacked. Also it’s fun experimenting with natural ingredients. Who knows what you will make?

After reading this one from the blog ‘Love Maegan’ we just had to try it. Tayla has already explained but basically, we bought some coconut oil in a jar, we whipped it with an electric hand whisk and voila! You have a moisturiser made from completely natural ingredients. No harsh chemicals, colours or preservatives just natural coconut oil left to set in a jar ready to be whipped ;).

I have used this heavenly coconut mousse as an in shower moisturiser; a make-up remover; a moisturiser; a shaving cream/gel; a lip balm and an everyday moisturiser. Whilst experimenting with all of these different day to day beauty needs I have come across some ups and downs which I want to share with you…

1. First things first, once whipped I would try to use it over the next 5 days, else like mine, it will start to set like it was in the jar. You don’t need to keep whipping it but if it gets a bit too hard then maybe whip less up next time or just give it a quick stir around.

2. Once whipped the coconut oil releases more of the natural oils because it is no longer a solid. So if you have oily prone skin you may want to use less or if your skin is like mine, sensitive and dry, then you may want to use more. However, I wouldn’t use this product as a daily moisturiser on your face as the oils can block your pores and create spots. As a daily moisturiser for your body etc. this is a great product but for your face I would say use 2-3 times a week max, unless you’re just purely using it as a make-up remover then every day is fine as long as you swill your face off afterwards.

3. I URGE you not to use this as a conditioner after shampooing unless your prepared to leave the coconut oil in overnight else you’ll come to blow dry your hair and then realise it’s greasy as hell afterwards, I unfortunately found this one out yesterday!! I tried this as a conditioner but like I just said my hair was so greasy it was disgusting. As I didn’t have time to wash my hair again I thought right Ill carry on the experiment and leave it in overnight till this morning. After a normal shampoo and light conditioning my hair is so soft and feels nourished. So although I had to walk around with my hair like a chip pan all day my hair is definitely thankful for it now!!

4. I (and Tayla) have found the best way to use this product when it comes to your hair is as a serum. You’ve heard of Argain Oil?? Well this is all natural coconut oil!! Once you’ve done your usual shampoo and conditioning in the shower towel dry your hair until hair is damp. Get some mousse on your hands and from the bottom of your crown down rub in some of the oil. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT rub into your roots as you will be back to square one and

back in that shower. Once rubbed into your ends brush or comb then blow dry your hair and you will see a big difference in the frizziness and softness of your hair.

5. If you forget to buy shaving gel and realise your legs are getting a bit prickly then just use this bad boy. Rub over your legs, arms… and then just start shaving. Once you’ve swilled your legs afterwards you’ll feel how smooth they are and will never go back to an ordinary, soapy shaving cream again!! Also whilst in the shower use the mousse as a way to lock in moisture. Just before you get out rub it all over your body (like you would baby oil), dry yourself off and then BAM your clean, smell fresh and lovingly moisturised.

6. Finally, as a lip balm, facemask and make-up remover it’s pretty simple to use. Smother over your face and leave on for at least 5 mins, (it won’t go hard) and then swill off the facemask with a gentle cleanser. Or as a make-up remover, rub some of the mouse over your face and then begin to wipe off with cotton wool pads, that way you won’t damage your skin with harsh exfoliators or face wipes. And last but not least, lip balm! This kinda stuff is definitely for those horrible, rough, winter chapped lips that we all get!! I would only put a bit on during the day as the mousse is so greasy, although it tastes soooo good. Before you go to bed, put a good amount on and around your lips and then settle yourself in for the night. Your partner will thank me one day for you’re oh so kissable lips.

I know I babble on a bit but there you have it!! A natural and cost effective beauty product that goes along way, I hope that this product and the tips given work just as well for you as it has for me. If you find another use for it then let us know by leaving a comment, also let us know how you get on!

Bye 🙂 xo

Beautifying Myself!

In one of my previous posts I said that this weekend was my Sister’s 18th birthday.

If you are girl, you know how hard to process is for getting ready! It isn’t a short, easy one, lets put it that way! So what I decided to do, was document my process and share with you.

The thing is that I decided this after I had finished the base of my makeup (foundation and powder with a spot of blusher) so it will mainly be the eyes and lips 🙂

Here is my starting face…

I always start do my makeup before I start my hair, so please ignore the nest!

The main reason I wanted to share this with you was because I spent some money on some new products. I bought them from the website http://www.elfcosmetics.co.uk and this website contains my new favourite things! (If they sold shoes, it would be the icing on the cake!!)

What I love about E.L.F (Eyes. Lips. Face.)  is that their prices are amazing!

My friend bought me an eye shadow pallet for christmas one year which is what introduced me to the cosmetics.

So one day being bored (being bored with the internet is always damages the bank) I found myself browsing this website and the one thing that pushed me to spend some of my hard earned money was 50% off EVERYTHING.

Rubbing my hands together with the biggest grin on my face, I went shopping!! I spent a grand total of £19.95 (inc postage and packaging aswell as the 50% discount). I do love me a bargain!! This got me 12 items including a range of mineral makeup.

I bought myself somethings that I have used before, but also a few things that I have never tried out. I took this opportunity to blog the things I have never tried before and share with you guys what I think! Hopefully it helps you all at some point!

Anyway, first step was eyes! I love applying makeup to my eyes (no matter how fiddly and frustrating it can be). Here is the base I picked.. Image

How beautiful!! I teamed this with a dark brown.. Image

I was worried that the dark brown was slightly too dark..maybe more of a black but it came out such a beautiful colour! Using some black liquid liner on my top lid, adding a slight flick on the end. The liquid eyeliner I am using currently is the £1 primark felt tip pen. It isn’t the dark so a couple layers would need to be applied but it lasts just as long as the more expensive eyeliners and it glides on nice and smoothly. Why pay £15 on an eyeliner that does exactly the same thing?!) For me to say a Primark piece of makeup does surprise me because I do get watery eyes, and it is important for me to find one that will not smudge or become a watery mess! I was so surprised at this. It would bought as a quick replacement to cover myself whilst I went away (I was horrified when I realised I left my other one at home, and since buying the new one I haven’t even looked at the old one! Who would have thought that?!)

Also I added black eyeliner pencil on my top and bottom waterline this adds a darkness to my eyes (I couldn’t imagine life without eyeliner!)

I like the shadow to fade into a different colour towards the end of my eye, so a lighter gold into a dark brown is what I chose to do. My aim of my look was to go for a kind of darker vamp style instead of my usual griller style. I LOVE the darker look, as long as it only worn occasionally and for a reason. I personally do not believe it should be worn for everyday, simply because it should be worn as a statement.

Next step…Eyelashes!!! I get my strip lashes from Primark for £1 and buy a better pot of glue to keep them on, rather than using what comes in the pack. It is most definitely worth the money to do it this way as the pot was bought a while ago for the price of around £3-£4! So it does last a long time!!

To finish of the eyes I added some volumizing mascara in black (of course) and some more eyeliner just to define the eyes a tad more… before I show you the final pic of my eyes, I am going to quickly show you what I chose to do with my lips.

Choosing a bright lipstick with darker eyes is a big mistake. It is just took much and sometime can look quite tacky. It is either statement eyes or statement lips. So I chose to use a red, but it wasn’t an ‘in your face red’. It was slightly darker but only really tinted my lips.

But before applying the colour I added a plumper and a primer by E.L.FImage

I have slightly thinner lips that I would prefer to have, so I thought the plumper would be a good idea to just make them appear to be more fuller. The smell ins unusual but not unbearable! Applying the plumper was easy, it has no colour. It was a product that you may not have been able to see but you could most definitely feel you had it on! It stung slightly, but all plumping lip products have this effect I do believe. The primer came out as a pale colour, very similar to the tone of my skin. This smooths out my lips and helps the colour last longer. (It also helped me keep the red slightly lighter than it is supposed to be)..

So guys, here is the finished product. (before the hair)

Next was the hair! Now as it was raining I felt there to be no point in styling it with heated products, so with some extreme back combing and hair spray, I decided to finish my ‘vamp’ look with no fringe and pulled to the side… Image

Check out the tattoo I had done yesterday too!!

To compliment the dark side of my style I went for all black. Black top (Primark £10), Black skinny jeans (Dorothy Perkins, Sale @ £15) and a black clutch bag (£10 Dorothy Perkins). I went for the to brighten up my look slightly with statement shoes! Hot pink! Bought from New Look (£19.99)

I love wearing black. I wear it more than I should, but it most definitely more flattering and slimming than any other colour. Black will also never go out of style!!

All my blog readers and followers should know that I have major problems with my weight and how I look, so it is extremely important to me that I feel good about myself! Black does this for me!

 Here is the finished product.

Excuse the mess!! But what do you guys think? Would love to know!

Love to you all !!! xx
