Face | Hiding The Madness

Hey There Pretties!

Today I write to you, sat on my couch, in the dark watching some thunder and lightening. This autumn weather has been AMAZING and really is my fave time of year!

We are finally mid week! YAY so we can all do the mid week boogie! As I am not working at the mo I will join in for the sake of it, but there is just nothing to hate about a Wednesday! (I am not working because I am a bum, just simply some issues were had at my previous place of work and the surgery I had just kicked my ass just FYI. I am almost healed and have a job lined up, but I will leave that for another day).

I am also in the process of a new project, I am just sorting out the little details and should be able to share with you in the next few days! Another YAY!

However, today will only be a short blog. I am in 3rd day of my Blogging frenzy and wasn’t sure what to share with you all.

This morning I woke up and realised my Doctors appointment was early that expected so I didn’t really have time with gaffing around with makeup so just covered my face, applied a small amount of mascara and rushed out the door.

So, whilst I was deciding what it was I wanted to write about, I thought I would do my makeup all fancy (The downside being I had no where to wear it 😦 ). I took what little makeup I had off and thought that my skin was just dreadful so I decided to write about how I cover my horrible scarring, redness and extra blemishes when my skin is at it’s worst. I have had worse skin than I do now, but it is the first time I have noticed it being too horrible in a while.

I tend to have bad skin when Aunt Flow visits… When I get ill…. or apparently just for fun every now and again. This is not unusual for women and as long as daily routines and effort is put into looking after your skin, you will reap the rewards.

ANYWAY

Ramble over. Here is a before pic…

And here are the products I used…

Max Factor Lasting Performance in Fair

ELF Cosmetics Cover Stick in Ivory

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Neutral

And here is the after…

image4

(I filled in my brows and did add a small amount of blush, but I think you can get the idea of how much different my skin looks).

How did I apply them you ask?

After moisturising and priming I added my ELF Cosmetics Cover Stick FIRST. Yes, you read that correctly. I applied it where the redness was looking most angry. This allows a little extra coverage. I do not blend in, I go straight ahead and apply the Max Factor Foundation over the top, blending in with a Real Techniques Buffing Brush. I LOVE this brush and the finish it gives my skin.

I then add any extra cover stick where necessary and then just buff in the powder gently. I can’t live without powder. I am not a fan of the dewy finish, I love a matte finish, but just add as much as you feel feel most comfortable with.

Here is a just a wee cheeky selfie of the complete look I went for.

And there you have it.

Goodbye for now my loves xo

My Empties!

Good Evening My Lovelies!

Hope you are all doing well! I thought it was about time that I wrote you another blog so I have been brainstorming to see what I can share with you and then it hit me.

A while back, I was shopping in one of our local budget department stores (I think that is what you could class it as), Trago Mills. Basically they sell anything you can imagine from furniture to plants to stationary, even all the little weird and wonderful things that you didn’t actually realise you need! I found this cute little pink bin, that at the time thought would be perfect for my car as my boyfriend is literally the worst at keeping it clean and tidy! But it wasn’t ideal and believe it or not, not big enough for the big mess he makes!

So it just sat in my bedroom to add a little character, gathering dust. For a while now I have been toying with the idea to share with you some of the empty products I use but I always just naturally throw them away without even thinking! So you can imagine my delight when that little light bulb in my head was flashing!!

Here is the little guy.. !

image3

I have now decided to use it for my empty products and when I have enough of a collection, I can share with you all my thoughts and whether or not I am in a hurry to run down to the shops and purchase it all once again!

Shall we get started before I start to bore you all with my ramble already? Right then, here goes…

image2

To start with, I have the Nivea Invisible Black & White Anti-Perspirant Deodorant Spray. The promise is that it is deigned to be a clear spray to protect white marks on black clothes and yellow stains on white clothes, 48hour protection, it’s gentle on the skin and is alcohol and colorant free. These are all great but do they work? Meh. I wasn’t impressed and extremely disappointed because Nivea have to be my all time favourite brand. It smells fresh which I love, but I wouldn’t say it lasts 48hours (Nor would I particularly expect it to as I shower everyday!!) It is a clear spray and never had a problem with that horrible white fall out when you move your arm after spraying. Its not as protecting as I would like, but I probably would purchase in the winter for that lighter fresher feel.

My Lacoste Touch of Pink Perfume has to be one of my all time favourites! It smells so nice and I am completely gutted that it has finally run out! I’m not going to spend too much time on this one because there is only so much you can say about a spray, but it is rare I find sprays that I love simply because smells can be a major trigger for my migraines. Because it is a light and fresh smell it really doesn’t cause any headaches at all 🙂 Perfection! (Plus I love that it’s Pink!)

The Moroccan Argan Hair Oil by Organic World is designed for moisture repair and damage control. I apply it on damp hair and then again when I have finished styling it. Just a small pea sized amount each time. I found that it smells lovely and isn’t too heavy of an oil. It helps deduct time from my blow drying time and leaves a nice healthy shine to my hair. I am not 100% sure where it was bought as I do believe it was a stocking filler bought for me last Christmas (I have so many oils, it takes me a while to get through them all!)

image1

The Rimmel 60 Second Nail Varnish in Caramel Cupcake is literally my all time favourite go-to colour. It is natural for all those that aren’t allowed a strong nail colour to school or work and it does genuinely dry super quick. I actually bought two of these when I last stocked up and is a regular purchase for me! I love love love it!! My only down fall with any quick drying nail varnish is that they do dry out in the bottle a lot quicker, however that doesn’t bother me because I am just a fidget when I have painted my nails and Rimmel especially have the best colours!

The Avon Lipstick in “Pink Pop” was gifted to me actually a couple of christmases ago by my dear friend Chelsea. It was my go to daytime colour for when I worked or just looked for that ‘perfect subtle pink’. It had a hint of shine and glitter making it pop, but it was the perfect colour for me! I would buy it again but it appears to be discontinued! 😦

And finally! The two concealers I have I have relatively recently written about.(Click here) My E.L.F Cosmetics cover stick in Ivory is genuinely one of my favourite concealers because the coverage is just incredible for the price. The colour is ideal for my complexion. It is of a thick heavy coverage but doesn’t feel greasy or heavy once blended! The Essence is perfect consistency and coverage especially for the under eye coverage. However the colour was a little too dark for my skin. I will have to double check that I did buy the palest colour. If it is the palest then I probably won’t buy it again or will buy for when I next go on holiday as it was ideal last time!

And there you have it! Have you tried any of the above products? Let me know!

Goodbye for now my loves xo

Everyday Go To Make Up | Back To School

Hey Dolls,

Hope you are all well!

This post goes out to all the little beauties out there who have recently started back to school or those looking for a quick and easy go to daily makeup. The reason I dedicate it for all the youngun’s out there is because my 15 year old sister has recently started back and described how the teachers are stripping young teenagers of their individuality and unique personalities away.

Going round class by class with nail polish remover and makeup remover and saying only natural coloured hair is allowed. I see the point and how it should be about the education not what you look like, but I also feel that making it about no makeup, no hair, no expression, is going to do the complete opposite to the teenagers in education.

Uniform is in place to ensure that everyone is wearing the same thing to minimise bullying, but every teenager needs an outlet for expression. I don’t what I would have done without a little bit of makeup in school because I suffered with horrid acne, and without that cover up I probably wouldn’t have wanted to leave the house.

I feel education is most important and towards the end of my educational period at my particular school, the education deteriorated and so did my motivation. One of my classes was a complete joke, with one teacher teaching two different levels at the same time, and my complaints led to me having to take time out of my time out of school hours to get the lessons I should have had during school hours.

So instead of focusing on how girls apply their makeup and spending the money on removers, how about focusing on ensuring teachers and students are thriving to do the best they can do? There should be limit on how much makeup is worn, obviously it would be unacceptable to walk in with full on clubbing makeup during the day, but a little bit of creativity could just help someone find themselves. Hell, thats what your teenage years are for! So I am going to show how I wear my makeup when I can’t be bothered or when I going for a more natural and pretty looks..

First things first…. The products. image-7So here I have (In order of application after moisturiser and primer – will not cover the application of my eyebrows)

ELF Cover Stick concealer in Ivory £1.95

NYC 14hr Long Lasting Foundation in Classic Ivory £3.99

Maybelline Super Stay Waterproof Powder in Ivory £5.99

Natural Collection Blusher in Pink Cloud £1.99

-Calvin Klien Cream Eye Shadow In Snake Skin Silver (Poundland)

MUA Matte Eye Shadow Palette in Ever After (Using shades Bare and Smoke) £4.00

MUA Eye Shadow Palette in Heaven & Earth (Using shades Amber Dune)

Essence Waterproof Mascara in Black. £2.50

ELF Luscious Liquid Lipstick in Pink Lemonade £1.95

My point was great coverage for a flawless, glowing skin for those who suffer with acne or those pesky imperfections (I still do, so please don’t let it worry you, just make sure you find a really good skin care routine, if you want me to share mine just let me know). You don’t want to piss off you teachers either, so ensure you pick a foundation that really suits your skin colour. I am a rather pale person so I have to swatch with the testers before I buy.

For this look as well, you don’t want to apply tonnes of everything. No Tarantula eyelashes and unfortunately no statement lips.

So a super quick run down of my application.

I used the ELF coverstick to cover my imperfections whether they be large pore or blemishes. Before blending I then applied my NYC foundation. You want to ensure you blend down the neck, towards your hairline and by the ears (we don’t want the lines). It feels slightly heavy but don’t worry about using one or the other if you don’t have those imperfections on your skin, this is about making you look as natural as possible. Dabbing the powder on with my powder brush to start with as to ensure that the base we applied isn’t smudged nor moved around the face the way we don’t want to do. Once that has done, nice gentle circles to finish the application to just finish covering any shines. If you like the dewy look and are comfortable with it – go with it, i’m just very much a powder finish gal.

Then with a cheeky smile gentle apply the blusher on the apples of your cheeks. The great thing about the Natural Collection blusher is that is doesn’t look heavy, you very much have to build the colour up step by step which is great for achieving the natural look. image-11 The Calvin Klien cream eyeshadow was a little bargain of mine and bought in multiple colours. The pigmentation is just perfect to use as a highlighter to heighten the eyes under the brow. Also is great for a little primer eyeshadow primer ;). I applied this with the light matte eyeshadow to bring back that natural finish. I added another MUA pale brown colour in the corners of my eyes, simply to add definition, but this doesn’t need to be done. Using the MUA Matte black shadow, I used this in place of my usual liquid liner. It softens the application just sightly widening the eyes, adding a very subtle definition. The Essence Black Mascara is very difficult to clump your lashes so again it will add a very subtle definition make you feel that bit more comfy (can’t leave the house without mascara). If you already have dark eyelashes, trying using a clear mascara just to add that pop. That way it will look even more natural. image-10 The lipstick is applied like a gloss as is absolutely perfect as it is close to my lip colour already. Matching the lip stick to your skin tone and lip colour is essential to complete the look. It adds confidence and just a little pop to your pout. image-8 image-9

I hope this helps those who struggle with their school. Take a selfie of your natural makeup and take me in them on twitter or Instagram so I can see! Good luck.

Goodbye for now xo

Introducing…

Hey there,

Today I have a little treat. I am introducing a new guest blogger who will share thoughts, hints and tips on beauty products designed for a completely different skin type to mine!

I speak about her all the time and she is genuinely my absolute hero! She is my Mum!!

Here she prepared a little intro but her first post will be tomorrow!

Enjoy xo

Hey
Let me introduce myself, I’m Jenna and I’m Taylas mum.  She has asked me to write about my experience with beauty products from a perspective of someone who has very difference skin type to hers.

I have very oily skin, large pores and being a ‘lady of a certain age’ some lines and wrinkles.  I am on what seems a never ending quest to find something to solve these problems, without injections or the use of a surgeon and as cheaply as possible😉. I absolutely love me a bargain!!!

Like Tayla I LOVE LOVE LOVE make up, nail art and hair styling.  I have quite a collection of nail products from polish to stamps and am lucky enough to have 3 daughters with beautiful nails who let me play and decorate their talons pretty much how I like.  On occasion they will also let me do their hair and make up, we’ve had a few afternoons copying some YouTube eye make up tutorials and having a giggle! Good times 😊

So there you go, that’s me.  Occasionally I will contribute to Taylas blog and I hope I don’t bore you too much with my limited experiences and knowledge.

Until then….

Recent Favourites | Lips

Hey there!

I am back once again, and a lot sooner than I think anyone anticipated! Including myself.

The response my blog post last night received was amazing and has genuinely just kicked me up the back side to really continue something I started and that I know I love doing. With the ups and downs I have had so far this year my motivation has really been shot down in almost every aspect of my life so really looking forward to building my confidence back up and really work towards what I wish to achieve!

So lets get started then shall we!?

I thought after blabbering on for ages last night a small post today will be more than enough rather than boring you all!

Today’s post is all about the….LIPS!

If you have been a long time follower you will know that lips just aren’t my thing, but you will be impressed… I have gone from having just 5 lippies, to now owning around 20. This is a vast improvement so I thought I may as well show you just a couple of my current favourites!

Here goes!

IMG_5266

Rimmel London Apocolips Lip Lacquer in shade “Eclipse” – £6.49 in Boots

Revlon Colour Burst Lacquer Balm in shade “Provocateur” – £7.99 in Boots (Revlon currently 2 for £10)

ELF Luscious Liquid Lipstick in shade “Pink Lemonade” –  £1.95

With my lip colours, I go through phases of wearing a nude everyday, a everyday or just a balm, but it has got to the point where if I have nothing on my lips I will go mad until I can get my hands on something. It just feels uncomfortable so I have to carry my balms with me everywhere at the moment for an incase of emergency!

For a very natural day where I am looking for a very subtle hint of colour with a glossy finish, I wear my ELF Luscious Lips. It is a twisty tool to get the product out so the product is kept fresh and doesn’t turn gloopy. I love glosses like this as it makes it easier to apply. The best rule to follow with these types of applicators is to work along the lines of less is more. It is easier to build the product up on the lip than to twist too much and end up with slick lips that are continuously sticking together and looks like your mouth is melting or your just the strange dribbler walking down the road – not cool. So always start with a thin layer and a apply small amounts at time. The colour is beautiful and is one of my faves. I recently bought the “Cherry Tart” shade too and is slightly more reddy and just as pretty!IMG_4757

My Revlon Colour Burst was only bought after watching every YouTuber speak about it and every blogger writing about it. I just HAD to see what the fuss was about. When I do this I find myself being disappointed and I have such high hopes after the amazing reviews, so I used once and put it away in my drawer. I recently rediscovered it and applied it feeling I should give it one more try and it is currently my favourite red colour! It glides smoothly on the lips and isn’t too thick like some sticks. It has a minty smell/taste so thats just never bad thing and lasts a lot longer than most reds. I can’t believe I completely disregarded this from the start! It is definitely a must have in your lipstick draw!

IMG_5268

Finally there is the Rimmel London Apocolips. I spent such a long time looking for which colour to buy and I am always so drawn to burgundy shades, so Eclipse was a winner for me. I do have the nude one as well but that can be a little too pales for me depending on my makeup. Coming in to Autumn is my absolute favourite time of year and with the lovely English rain at the moment, I have definitely been rocking this when I can. It is very difficult to apply simply because of the deep colour (Stains so easily) so I wouldn’t apply it if you hurrying out the door. It has a beautiful finish though and lasts a relatively long time for a lippie. It is very dark to begin with so I simply apply to my bottom lip and rub and just use the remainder of the wand to go around the edges to ensure my lips are perfect. The finish is glossy but the right amount of glossy! It takes a lot of patience with any dark colour, but its just too beautiful! I will be wearing this every opportunity I get with the arrival of the colder months!

IMG_5246

And there we have my current favourite lip products! All have great pigmentation so the colours come out just how you expect them to! Have you tried any of them? Let me know below or on the links below!

Goodbye for now my loves! xo
