Jenna’s Blog | Part 3

Howdo,

Tayla’s mum here with just a quick bit of waffle about my hair products.

I have to be very careful as I suffer with dermatitis on my scalp which will flare in to psoriasis if I’m not careful.  My doctor prescribed me with a special shampoo for really bad flares and a delightful lotion for smaller flares which feels like I’m putting alcohol on open cuts…..yes it’s really that nice!  So as you can appreciate I have to be careful but at the same time I love to try new products.  A dilemma, but if I’m on the ball I can catch anything nasty before it gets icky lol.

image-12
Right, at the moment I’m using Dove daily care shampoo 250ml £1.34 at Boots.com.
Massaging this shampoo into your hair gives you a lush head of smooth bubbles.  It’s leaves your hair feeling clean but not stripped.  Best of all it reminds me of our first family holiday to Orlando, where we bought some Aussie shampoo and conditioner to use.  Now American Aussie is TOTALLY different to English Aussie.  I hate English Aussie and think it smells like plastic and it leaves me hair feeling like plastic too.  American Aussie is the best shampoo and conditioner I have ever used and it just smells divine!  So the Dove shampoo takes me straight back to Florida and good times 😊

Dove Hair Therapy Nourishing Oil Care Conditioner 350ml £3.99 at Boots.com.
As with the shampoo, the scent is just flipping gorgeous and makes me all dreamy lol.  It conditions my hair really well, leaving it tangle free.  Great stuff!

Dead Sea Spa Magik Dead sea mineral shampoo 330ml £8.30 at Debenhams.com.
Now this shampoo is a bit of a funky smell.  I use his when I have a sore and itchy scalp from the dermatitis. It leaves my hair lovely and clean.  I wish it smelt a bit nicer but as it helps me scalp I can live with it 😉

Dead Sea Spa Magik Dead sea spa magic conditioning scalp mud. 150ml. £9.75 at Debenhams.com.
This conditioner is a clay scalp treatment and it’s amazing!  Again it smells funky.  You don’t need much as it spreads easily on your scalp and through your hair.  It gets rid of my itches and leaves me with the softest hair.

There you go, told you it was a short one today.  Hopefully it might help anyone who suffers with scalp inflammation or just an itchy and flaky scalp.  No ones wants to walk round scratching like they have the crawlies, surrounded with a cloud of dandruff YIKES.

Until next time …..

My Favourites | Bathtime

Good evening you Beauties!

Hope you are all well and your week is off to a fabulous start!

As I write this, I have X-Men: The Last Stand on E4 (I am a little Marvel Comic Films geek and especially love all the Avengers) on in the background, my PJs on and candles lit. At the mo, this is my little bit of heaven, without getting in the tub. I am still healing from my surgery and I am only allowed to shower, so you can imagine my frustration knowing I can’t have a full on pamper sesh with a bath, a book, and face mask and all the other wonderful things it includes! (nails, a cheeky beverage etc)

But during my time only being able to shower, it has genuinely made me appreciate it and the little bit more variety of products that are available to you to stay fresh and pasty-stink free!

Anyway, here is a sneak peek into just a few of my fave products when I do have a pamper, or just feel like a good scrub!

I think by now you can all appreciate that I am a cheap and cheerful kinda gal, but just because a product isn’t expensive doesn’t mean it has to be completely rubbish. We have all come across the no-so-great products in our hope for saving a few pennies but we have to remember that one product maybe ones saviour, but another’s idea of hell.

I have had my fair share of bad reactions to shower gels, bubble baths and other skin related products; dry skin, itching, eczema but they haven’t just been the lower end products so the price tag doesn’t really mean a thing to me, so the best thing about my blog today is that EACH product comes under the £5 mark. Doesn’t that sound delightful?

image3-2

So to start with I have a product that is new to me, but having been eyeing up for a while. Surprise, surprise it is by Nivea (so I am bound to love it). It is the In-Shower Body Moisturiser in Pampering Honey. It promised to hydrate for 24+ hours and to leave just as nourished as slapping on that bog standard moisturiser. Boy oh boy, it lives up to that expectation and then some. I feel so amazing after showering with this product. It is to be used after cleansing but can be applied all over. It is designed to take that greasy feeling left when moisturising, especially when you have to stand star shaped half naked in your bedroom freezing your panties off (and then you realise you left the curtains open!).  It smells absolutely divine and I am left feeling silky smooth. It even does the job after shaving. For me this is a 10/10 product and I will be stocking up! The great thing is if you are sensitive to smells and like more of a fresher fragrance, then there is a standard option, available in a blue bottle for extra dry skin, or a white bottle for everyday skin.

image2-2

Because the In-Shower Moisturiser by Nivea has to be applied after cleansing, it would be silly of me to miss out on letting you know what I am loving at the moment in the form of Shower Gel. I have two favourite brands when it comes to lathering up, and that is between Radox and Original Source. Radox for me have brought out a few disappointing smelling products so for me right now it is all about the OS. They haven’t let me down yet when it comes to scents and products. My current Can’t-Live-Withouts are the Vanilla and Raspberry and the Mint and Tea Tree. The V&R smells is more of a yoghurty smell and is perfect if want something sweeter. It is all Natural Fragrance and gives you that little extra moisturise. The Mint bottle claims to have 7,927 real mint leaves packed into one bottle and it definitely smells that way. It gives you that extra wake up for a morning shower and makes you feel cool and fresh. Perfection!

And finally, can’t mention any bathroom products without sharing my favourites by Radox. Their Bath Soaks.

image1-2

The Muscle Soak is for long days where I have done a tough workout or been on my feet a lot. I suffer with irritated knees, especially in the winter, so this is ideal. The blue and greens ones have more of a manly smells, but I love a good man smell every now and again 🙂 This one includes some Sea Minerals and Clary Sage to ease the aches and pains.

The Stress Relief soak has ‘a calming blend of rosemary and eucalyptus’. I use this for “I am going to kill my boyfriend so pour me some bubbles” days. (Take that in either bathing or in an alcoholic beverage form 😉 ) I find the scents so soothing and really allows me to relax and take some me time!

You can’t forget the little girly and more moisturising bubbles. Doing what it says on the tin, It nourishes with a blend of Ginger and Shea Butter. This one leaves my bathroom smelling so good and is another great product when you are suffering with a bit of that pesky dry skin. Especially with the winter coming up, I will stocking up on this one ready for when I can once again enjoy a good soak!

What are your must have products in for when you are having a good scrub?

Share yours and I will check them out for myself!

Goodbye for now My Loves xo

Jenna’s Blog | Part Two

Hello again, yep it’s me, Taylas mum.

I’m writing another set of reviews today, this time about some Clinique products I have.  I put the brands I have together just for ease.  I think my next instalment is a mixture of products and brands, hopefully it won’t be too messy 😉
photo-2
I have been using the Clinique 3 step system for a few years and have got on with it brilliantly.  It’s only my curiousness and the price of Clinique that has made me venture into trying other products.  I got my Clinique bits and bobs when we went on holiday to Florida so with the exchange rate I paid quite a bit less than the prices I’ve listed.  The prices listed are from the Boots website and these are MY OPINIONS.

Liquid facial soap.  Combination oily to oily skin, 200ml, allergy tested.  Step 1. £16
Non scented.
Great soap, has a gentle lather and doesn’t leave my face feeling dry and tight.
My fall back facial soap, great stuff.

Clarifying lotion 3.  Combination oily, 487ml, allergy tested.  Step 2. £26 (for 400ml)
Says fragrance free but you can smell alcohol in it. Can also feel it tingle when swept over your skin, which I like.
I’ve not found it very good as an exfoliator like described on the bottle, good as a toner though.
I have the bottle with the pump in the top because I bought it in America, I don’t know if you can get the pump in the UK.

Dramatically different moisturising gel. Combination oily to oily skin,125ml, allergy tested. Step 3. £30.
Says fragrance free but I think it has a very light clean smell.
A little goes a long way, so you can use sparingly. Absorbs quickly and easily.  Doesn’t leave skin matte but not shiny either.
My fall back moisturiser, I have a new bottle in the cupboard ready to go.

Take the day off make up remover for lids, lashes and lips.  50ml, allergy tested. £17 (for 125ml)
This is Such a small bottle as i got this in a sample pack with another purchase.
Non scented.
This is the best waterproof eye makeup remover I have ever used!!! I love it so have been using it sparingly, making it last rather than buying a new bottle.  I’m so tight lol.  Would recommend it to anyone.  Never tried it on my lips though as I never have lips left on by the end of the day.

Repairwear intensive eye cream.  15ml, allergy tested, ophthalmologist tested.

(I don’t think they make this anymore so I can’t find a price)

A nice eye cream that isn’t at all greasy and is easily absorbed.  Feels lovely but not seen any difference on my lines and wrinkles.

Acne solutions cleansing foam.  125ml, salicylic acid acne medication. Allergy tested. £17.
Says fragrance free but has a slight medicated and sweet smell.
This product is also part of the 3 step system buy I only have this step. Cleanses your skin really well but be very careful near your eyes.  At the moment it’s too much for my skin so will probably end up giving it away.

Self sun body daily moisturiser.  Light/medium, 75ml, allergy tested. £19 (for 125 ml).
Says fragrance free but I think it has a rather strong scent, a funky buttery type smell.  It’s pretty much the same deal as the dove self tanning moisturiser, put a bit on each day and build it up each day until you get the desired colour.  Works great and created a beautiful light tan (great for us pale people). Doesn’t last that long but non of them do, shame it is stinky! I got this free in my sample pack with another purchase.

There you go, another set of reviews from my perspective.  Remember I am in my early 40’s so if you’re a young whippersnapper it will probably not apply to you. Anyway I hope someone finds this helpful 🙂

Until next time…..

Recent Favourites | Face

Hey Dolls,

I have once again been MIA but I have recently been in hospital and made some MAJOR changed to my life in general. I won’t go into details but I just wanted to apologise.

It is my first blog post since my name change as “Those Perfect Imperfections” and I am even in the process of making it my own domain! Yeehaar! The reason for my name changes and why I chose the name I did, is in the “My name is Tayla” section above, so don’t hesitate to take a look and share your thoughts. Don’t forget to share your URLs so I can have a nosy at your blogs too!!

Moving on then my beauties, today I am sharing with you a few of my recent favourites for your face! Skin care and Makeup included! Woohoo!

So , first I have this Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water.  I found this one on offer in Boots, so I couldn’t resist. I was intrigued as I have read about it and thought I had to try it. It promises to cleanse, remove makeup and soothe the skin. I can tell you now it does all of those things. I have relatively sensitive skin due to eczema and acne flare ups and I genuinely believe at the moment, my skin hasn’t felt so smooth and soft! It is hypoallergenic and isn’t perfumed. It is gentle enough to use on the eyes and the lips!

IMG_5249

It is normally £4.99 but at the moment is £3.99 so make sure you don’t miss out!

My other skin care products that I love, love, love are the Simple Rich Moisturiser, Nivea Q10 Night Cream and the Witch Primer.

IMG_5251

Simple Rich Moisturiser – £3.99 (currently 3for2 on Simple at Boots)

Nivea Q10 Night Cream – £9.99 (currently £4.99 at Boots)

Witch Anti Blemish Primer – £6.99 at Superdrug

I need a rich moisturiser as my skin is very damaged due to scarring and get very dry very quickly. I love the feeling of a nice thick moisturiser and face cream but this is definitely not too thick. It works fast and as it is from the simple range it is designed to be “Kind to Skin”.

The Nivea Q10 was given to me by my Mum because she wasn’t a fan. She has the opposite skin to me so she can be quite oily which makes some products to her difficult to use. Why she didn’t like it I’m not 100% sure but I think it was just a general dislike. I personally love it again because it has a nice thick texture. I like to know my products are working and this is one those that I can instantly feel working. It is always good to start on the anti wrinkle creams early to help prevent the buggers!

The Witch Primer was recommended to me by my sister, Shannan. I find that it genuinely has helped my acne especially after all the drugs from being in hospital. It helps fill in my pores to create a smooth base ready for my foundation and it does this without clogging them. Exactly what I look for in a primer. It is oil and fragrance free so again, perfect for the sensitive skin!

I think I have made it clear I like a thick face cream, I also like a heavy coverage on my face with my foundations. I know it sounds a lot, but I am self conscious of my skin because of the damage teenage acne caused me :(. I find that Max Factor foundations give me the great coverage I want without the cake face that everyone dreads. I use the cover stick on it’s when I am having a great skin day, but I will use the cover stick underneath the foundation as a good base when my skin isn’t so great. I always try to the palest shades to compliment my skin. The coverage makes me feel like for once I have flawless skin so at the moment it is all I wear! I have previously wrote about the Colour Adapt, and you can find that HERE. The Lasting Performance, once again Max Factor has kept their promise, and it does exactly what it says on the tin. I am SO impressed with Max Factor, the have a devoted customer in me! ALL MAX FACTOR CURRENTLY 3 for 2 IN BOOTS

IMG_5254

Colour Adapt Foundation – £9.99 in Boots

Lasting Performance Foundation – £9.99 in Boots

Pan Stick – £6.99 in Boots

I am one of those crazy people who CANNOT live without a powder. I hate the dewy finish because it makes me feel like I am greasy and slipping around the place. It is very rare I stick to the same powder and it is very rare I have more than one at a time. I don’t know why but it is the only product that I don’t have loads of! At the moment I am wearing Essence. Oh my god ladies, get to Wilko NOW! I found out about Essence through tonnes of bloggers around Europe and how my mother nagged me to buy her some when I went to Spain. I came back from Spain to this beauty in Wilko and I can’t believe the quality of all their products for the price! The Powder is amaze balls for the price and I must say I will repurchase! I get a little oily at certain times of the month and I find that it isn’t strong enough to hold through the oil all day, but it takes seconds for a quick top up and so I don’t even care! It is from the Mattifying Range so gives me the lovely matte look that I love.

 IMG_4854

The Rimmel Wake Me Up is a little gem found in Poundland of all places. I use it when I looking for an all day coverage and it helps my powder hold that little bit better. If I am looking for a light coverage for a more natural look, again this is amazing! It doesn’t leave me feeling greasy and holds in place.

The ELF blusher is a beauty. It is perfect for a night out simply because it has a little bit more glitter that you would wear for a day time blush, but the pigmentation is great for the price. I have had this blush for over a year now and it’s still going so you don’t even need to use much at one time! Perfection!

The MUA highlighter is so inexpensive that I had to buy it. MUA is only sold in Superdrug at all their products are super pigmented. I have nearly all their eyeshadow palettes so I knew this would be great little product. Although its great it can take the smallest amount to be too much. If you apply too much it can leave you looking too shiny, so just be careful when applying!

IMG_5270

Essence Mattifying Powder – £2.80 Wilko

Rimmel Wake Me Up Liquid Blush – £1 Poundland

ELF Blush – £3.95

MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter – £3.00 Superdrug (Currently 3 for 2)

I did have loads of eye makeup to show you as well but I will save that for part 2 tomorrow so make sure you check it out.

Goodbye for now my loves! xo

I Have A Treat For You!

Hello there Guys and Girls,

I have a treat for you all these evening!!!

Do you remember my previous post “I am a Coco-nut”?? Well When I made this product, I made it with one of my best friends! So I asked her if she could write a blog post for me as a guest blogger. As she is truly amazing, she agreed to do so! I asked her so you guys could really understand why I am so excited about this particular product and so you could have a second opinion on it.

So here goes, this is what my good friend Chelsea had to say….

I’m going coco-nuts!!

Hello to the viewers of Tayla’s blog.

I’m her friend Chelsea, she has asked me to be a guest blogger and share my thoughts and experiences with you on our most recent beauty bargain item… The Coconut Oil.

Personally, I LOVE IT!

As Tayla and I don’t believe in spending an arm and a leg for the “best” (COUGH most expensive) we love looking for beauty DIY’s so we can look good and feel happy knowing our purses haven’t been ransacked. Also it’s fun experimenting with natural ingredients. Who knows what you will make?

After reading this one from the blog ‘Love Maegan’ we just had to try it. Tayla has already explained but basically, we bought some coconut oil in a jar, we whipped it with an electric hand whisk and voila! You have a moisturiser made from completely natural ingredients. No harsh chemicals, colours or preservatives just natural coconut oil left to set in a jar ready to be whipped ;).

I have used this heavenly coconut mousse as an in shower moisturiser; a make-up remover; a moisturiser; a shaving cream/gel; a lip balm and an everyday moisturiser. Whilst experimenting with all of these different day to day beauty needs I have come across some ups and downs which I want to share with you…

1. First things first, once whipped I would try to use it over the next 5 days, else like mine, it will start to set like it was in the jar. You don’t need to keep whipping it but if it gets a bit too hard then maybe whip less up next time or just give it a quick stir around.

2. Once whipped the coconut oil releases more of the natural oils because it is no longer a solid. So if you have oily prone skin you may want to use less or if your skin is like mine, sensitive and dry, then you may want to use more. However, I wouldn’t use this product as a daily moisturiser on your face as the oils can block your pores and create spots. As a daily moisturiser for your body etc. this is a great product but for your face I would say use 2-3 times a week max, unless you’re just purely using it as a make-up remover then every day is fine as long as you swill your face off afterwards.

3. I URGE you not to use this as a conditioner after shampooing unless your prepared to leave the coconut oil in overnight else you’ll come to blow dry your hair and then realise it’s greasy as hell afterwards, I unfortunately found this one out yesterday!! I tried this as a conditioner but like I just said my hair was so greasy it was disgusting. As I didn’t have time to wash my hair again I thought right Ill carry on the experiment and leave it in overnight till this morning. After a normal shampoo and light conditioning my hair is so soft and feels nourished. So although I had to walk around with my hair like a chip pan all day my hair is definitely thankful for it now!!

4. I (and Tayla) have found the best way to use this product when it comes to your hair is as a serum. You’ve heard of Argain Oil?? Well this is all natural coconut oil!! Once you’ve done your usual shampoo and conditioning in the shower towel dry your hair until hair is damp. Get some mousse on your hands and from the bottom of your crown down rub in some of the oil. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT rub into your roots as you will be back to square one and

back in that shower. Once rubbed into your ends brush or comb then blow dry your hair and you will see a big difference in the frizziness and softness of your hair.

5. If you forget to buy shaving gel and realise your legs are getting a bit prickly then just use this bad boy. Rub over your legs, arms… and then just start shaving. Once you’ve swilled your legs afterwards you’ll feel how smooth they are and will never go back to an ordinary, soapy shaving cream again!! Also whilst in the shower use the mousse as a way to lock in moisture. Just before you get out rub it all over your body (like you would baby oil), dry yourself off and then BAM your clean, smell fresh and lovingly moisturised.

6. Finally, as a lip balm, facemask and make-up remover it’s pretty simple to use. Smother over your face and leave on for at least 5 mins, (it won’t go hard) and then swill off the facemask with a gentle cleanser. Or as a make-up remover, rub some of the mouse over your face and then begin to wipe off with cotton wool pads, that way you won’t damage your skin with harsh exfoliators or face wipes. And last but not least, lip balm! This kinda stuff is definitely for those horrible, rough, winter chapped lips that we all get!! I would only put a bit on during the day as the mousse is so greasy, although it tastes soooo good. Before you go to bed, put a good amount on and around your lips and then settle yourself in for the night. Your partner will thank me one day for you’re oh so kissable lips.

I know I babble on a bit but there you have it!! A natural and cost effective beauty product that goes along way, I hope that this product and the tips given work just as well for you as it has for me. If you find another use for it then let us know by leaving a comment, also let us know how you get on!

Bye 🙂 xo
