My Favourites | Hair

Good evening Dolls,

Hope you are all well!!

I have yet another post for you! I am trying my best to post everyday this week as each post is reigniting my love for blogging that I first started with. I have had a lot going on and blogging took that back seat, but never fear, I am back and easing into some fabulous posts just for you! Today we have my current favourite hair products. I do have so many, but the ones I chose I found to be the ones I use and replace on a regular basis!

Here goes…

image1-3

Umberto Giannini Mend My Hair Therapy, designed for intensive damage repair. It is a 5 in 1 hair oil which claims to

-Strengthen and Repair

-Smooth and soften

-Conceal split ends

-Tames and controls

-Adds shine

Now, if you don’t already know, my hair is crazy. Humidity makes my hair turn into an afro and is just generally a wild mane. It does take a lot to tame and I must say, this oil does a rather great job in assisting with that. My hair isn’t in the best condition so a hair oil is imperative for me. I apply a couple of pumps to the ends of my hair whilst damp and then again if needed once styled – only applying a tiny amount when it’s dry. It has an unusual smell, a kind of a love it or hate, (my mum hates it) but I loooooove it! I definitely will buy it again for sure!

John Frieda Frizz-Ease 3 Day Straight. I first got this product a few christmases ago from my Mum, and I remember going “how on earth does it leave my hair straight for 3 days when I wash it nearly every day”. Boys and Girls, why then did I not realise it is not good to wash your hair every day. Apparently, a healthy amount is every 3 day, according to John Frieda. Even then however, knowing how wild my hair gets, it really did help the frizz and calm it down in the mad weather. So now I use it how it is supposed to be used and I always leave my hair unwashed for as long as possible! (it really has helped the condition of my hair, so I would recommend being a grub for the extra couple days!) I rely on this product more than I should and for a temporary sleek straight style, it is a must have!

And for those days where you can’t be bothered to wash your hair… Batiste Dry Shampoo. I will leave this one short and sweet because I have written about this product before (CLICK HERE). It really isn;t just to help the greasy/i’m too lazy to get up earlier and wash my hair/unmanageable hair. I also use it to add that extra volume when I am look for extra oomph. The Tropic scent smells delightful, so will leave your hair looking and smelling freshly washed!

Tresemme is a much loved brand of mine and definitely a go to for shampoo and conditioner when I can’t make up my mind. It is a comfort brand for me, and will always end up going back to it one way or another. One product I cannot get enough of is the Heat Protect Mist for Coloured hair. I have coloured my hair for many many years so that extra protection to stop my colour fading it gives is a must! It helps my hair feel lovely and smooth and protect from the heat of my straighteners. It gives 2X longer protection on your coloured hair and protects on temperatures up to 230 degrees. YES PLEASE. Spray generously over damp hair and blow dry. I will add a few extra sprays when straightening but ensure you don’t apply too much otherwise your hair gets heavy and greasy too quickly. I usually buy the standard heat protection by Tresemme, however this one I caught on sale in Boots for £1.80!!!!!! I stocked up!

And finally, My newest purchase was a bargain from my much loved and local Trago Mills (Only in Devon or Cornwall – sad face) but it is available in most drug stores. Got2B  Rise and Shine Hairspray. It is a new range and I have previously used Got2B for other hairsprays. The reason I always go back to this brand is because of the price (Tayla Friendly), the scent (oh my god is it even a hairspray it smells divine) and of course the quality of the product. It holds my hair! Yay!! I do need to reapply it when necessary, just because of the nature of my hair, but it is definitely one of the few hairsprays that actually does what it is supposed to. It holds, provides shine and adds a little extra volume. I will be going back to Trago Mills to repurchase – Especially as my boyfriend feels the need to use it too!

And there you have it! Do you use any of my favourites? What are your thoughts? Let me know!

Goodbye for now my lovelies! xo

My Empties!

Good Evening My Lovelies!

Hope you are all doing well! I thought it was about time that I wrote you another blog so I have been brainstorming to see what I can share with you and then it hit me.

A while back, I was shopping in one of our local budget department stores (I think that is what you could class it as), Trago Mills. Basically they sell anything you can imagine from furniture to plants to stationary, even all the little weird and wonderful things that you didn’t actually realise you need! I found this cute little pink bin, that at the time thought would be perfect for my car as my boyfriend is literally the worst at keeping it clean and tidy! But it wasn’t ideal and believe it or not, not big enough for the big mess he makes!

So it just sat in my bedroom to add a little character, gathering dust. For a while now I have been toying with the idea to share with you some of the empty products I use but I always just naturally throw them away without even thinking! So you can imagine my delight when that little light bulb in my head was flashing!!

Here is the little guy.. !

image3

I have now decided to use it for my empty products and when I have enough of a collection, I can share with you all my thoughts and whether or not I am in a hurry to run down to the shops and purchase it all once again!

Shall we get started before I start to bore you all with my ramble already? Right then, here goes…

image2

To start with, I have the Nivea Invisible Black & White Anti-Perspirant Deodorant Spray. The promise is that it is deigned to be a clear spray to protect white marks on black clothes and yellow stains on white clothes, 48hour protection, it’s gentle on the skin and is alcohol and colorant free. These are all great but do they work? Meh. I wasn’t impressed and extremely disappointed because Nivea have to be my all time favourite brand. It smells fresh which I love, but I wouldn’t say it lasts 48hours (Nor would I particularly expect it to as I shower everyday!!) It is a clear spray and never had a problem with that horrible white fall out when you move your arm after spraying. Its not as protecting as I would like, but I probably would purchase in the winter for that lighter fresher feel.

My Lacoste Touch of Pink Perfume has to be one of my all time favourites! It smells so nice and I am completely gutted that it has finally run out! I’m not going to spend too much time on this one because there is only so much you can say about a spray, but it is rare I find sprays that I love simply because smells can be a major trigger for my migraines. Because it is a light and fresh smell it really doesn’t cause any headaches at all 🙂 Perfection! (Plus I love that it’s Pink!)

The Moroccan Argan Hair Oil by Organic World is designed for moisture repair and damage control. I apply it on damp hair and then again when I have finished styling it. Just a small pea sized amount each time. I found that it smells lovely and isn’t too heavy of an oil. It helps deduct time from my blow drying time and leaves a nice healthy shine to my hair. I am not 100% sure where it was bought as I do believe it was a stocking filler bought for me last Christmas (I have so many oils, it takes me a while to get through them all!)

image1

The Rimmel 60 Second Nail Varnish in Caramel Cupcake is literally my all time favourite go-to colour. It is natural for all those that aren’t allowed a strong nail colour to school or work and it does genuinely dry super quick. I actually bought two of these when I last stocked up and is a regular purchase for me! I love love love it!! My only down fall with any quick drying nail varnish is that they do dry out in the bottle a lot quicker, however that doesn’t bother me because I am just a fidget when I have painted my nails and Rimmel especially have the best colours!

The Avon Lipstick in “Pink Pop” was gifted to me actually a couple of christmases ago by my dear friend Chelsea. It was my go to daytime colour for when I worked or just looked for that ‘perfect subtle pink’. It had a hint of shine and glitter making it pop, but it was the perfect colour for me! I would buy it again but it appears to be discontinued! 😦

And finally! The two concealers I have I have relatively recently written about.(Click here) My E.L.F Cosmetics cover stick in Ivory is genuinely one of my favourite concealers because the coverage is just incredible for the price. The colour is ideal for my complexion. It is of a thick heavy coverage but doesn’t feel greasy or heavy once blended! The Essence is perfect consistency and coverage especially for the under eye coverage. However the colour was a little too dark for my skin. I will have to double check that I did buy the palest colour. If it is the palest then I probably won’t buy it again or will buy for when I next go on holiday as it was ideal last time!

And there you have it! Have you tried any of the above products? Let me know!

Goodbye for now my loves xo

Everyday Go To Make Up | Back To School

Hey Dolls,

Hope you are all well!

This post goes out to all the little beauties out there who have recently started back to school or those looking for a quick and easy go to daily makeup. The reason I dedicate it for all the youngun’s out there is because my 15 year old sister has recently started back and described how the teachers are stripping young teenagers of their individuality and unique personalities away.

Going round class by class with nail polish remover and makeup remover and saying only natural coloured hair is allowed. I see the point and how it should be about the education not what you look like, but I also feel that making it about no makeup, no hair, no expression, is going to do the complete opposite to the teenagers in education.

Uniform is in place to ensure that everyone is wearing the same thing to minimise bullying, but every teenager needs an outlet for expression. I don’t what I would have done without a little bit of makeup in school because I suffered with horrid acne, and without that cover up I probably wouldn’t have wanted to leave the house.

I feel education is most important and towards the end of my educational period at my particular school, the education deteriorated and so did my motivation. One of my classes was a complete joke, with one teacher teaching two different levels at the same time, and my complaints led to me having to take time out of my time out of school hours to get the lessons I should have had during school hours.

So instead of focusing on how girls apply their makeup and spending the money on removers, how about focusing on ensuring teachers and students are thriving to do the best they can do? There should be limit on how much makeup is worn, obviously it would be unacceptable to walk in with full on clubbing makeup during the day, but a little bit of creativity could just help someone find themselves. Hell, thats what your teenage years are for! So I am going to show how I wear my makeup when I can’t be bothered or when I going for a more natural and pretty looks..

First things first…. The products. image-7So here I have (In order of application after moisturiser and primer – will not cover the application of my eyebrows)

ELF Cover Stick concealer in Ivory £1.95

NYC 14hr Long Lasting Foundation in Classic Ivory £3.99

Maybelline Super Stay Waterproof Powder in Ivory £5.99

Natural Collection Blusher in Pink Cloud £1.99

-Calvin Klien Cream Eye Shadow In Snake Skin Silver (Poundland)

MUA Matte Eye Shadow Palette in Ever After (Using shades Bare and Smoke) £4.00

MUA Eye Shadow Palette in Heaven & Earth (Using shades Amber Dune)

Essence Waterproof Mascara in Black. £2.50

ELF Luscious Liquid Lipstick in Pink Lemonade £1.95

My point was great coverage for a flawless, glowing skin for those who suffer with acne or those pesky imperfections (I still do, so please don’t let it worry you, just make sure you find a really good skin care routine, if you want me to share mine just let me know). You don’t want to piss off you teachers either, so ensure you pick a foundation that really suits your skin colour. I am a rather pale person so I have to swatch with the testers before I buy.

For this look as well, you don’t want to apply tonnes of everything. No Tarantula eyelashes and unfortunately no statement lips.

So a super quick run down of my application.

I used the ELF coverstick to cover my imperfections whether they be large pore or blemishes. Before blending I then applied my NYC foundation. You want to ensure you blend down the neck, towards your hairline and by the ears (we don’t want the lines). It feels slightly heavy but don’t worry about using one or the other if you don’t have those imperfections on your skin, this is about making you look as natural as possible. Dabbing the powder on with my powder brush to start with as to ensure that the base we applied isn’t smudged nor moved around the face the way we don’t want to do. Once that has done, nice gentle circles to finish the application to just finish covering any shines. If you like the dewy look and are comfortable with it – go with it, i’m just very much a powder finish gal.

Then with a cheeky smile gentle apply the blusher on the apples of your cheeks. The great thing about the Natural Collection blusher is that is doesn’t look heavy, you very much have to build the colour up step by step which is great for achieving the natural look. image-11 The Calvin Klien cream eyeshadow was a little bargain of mine and bought in multiple colours. The pigmentation is just perfect to use as a highlighter to heighten the eyes under the brow. Also is great for a little primer eyeshadow primer ;). I applied this with the light matte eyeshadow to bring back that natural finish. I added another MUA pale brown colour in the corners of my eyes, simply to add definition, but this doesn’t need to be done. Using the MUA Matte black shadow, I used this in place of my usual liquid liner. It softens the application just sightly widening the eyes, adding a very subtle definition. The Essence Black Mascara is very difficult to clump your lashes so again it will add a very subtle definition make you feel that bit more comfy (can’t leave the house without mascara). If you already have dark eyelashes, trying using a clear mascara just to add that pop. That way it will look even more natural. image-10 The lipstick is applied like a gloss as is absolutely perfect as it is close to my lip colour already. Matching the lip stick to your skin tone and lip colour is essential to complete the look. It adds confidence and just a little pop to your pout. image-8 image-9

I hope this helps those who struggle with their school. Take a selfie of your natural makeup and take me in them on twitter or Instagram so I can see! Good luck.

Goodbye for now xo

Recent Favourites | Face

Hey Dolls,

I have once again been MIA but I have recently been in hospital and made some MAJOR changed to my life in general. I won’t go into details but I just wanted to apologise.

It is my first blog post since my name change as “Those Perfect Imperfections” and I am even in the process of making it my own domain! Yeehaar! The reason for my name changes and why I chose the name I did, is in the “My name is Tayla” section above, so don’t hesitate to take a look and share your thoughts. Don’t forget to share your URLs so I can have a nosy at your blogs too!!

Moving on then my beauties, today I am sharing with you a few of my recent favourites for your face! Skin care and Makeup included! Woohoo!

So , first I have this Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water.  I found this one on offer in Boots, so I couldn’t resist. I was intrigued as I have read about it and thought I had to try it. It promises to cleanse, remove makeup and soothe the skin. I can tell you now it does all of those things. I have relatively sensitive skin due to eczema and acne flare ups and I genuinely believe at the moment, my skin hasn’t felt so smooth and soft! It is hypoallergenic and isn’t perfumed. It is gentle enough to use on the eyes and the lips!

IMG_5249

It is normally £4.99 but at the moment is £3.99 so make sure you don’t miss out!

My other skin care products that I love, love, love are the Simple Rich Moisturiser, Nivea Q10 Night Cream and the Witch Primer.

IMG_5251

Simple Rich Moisturiser – £3.99 (currently 3for2 on Simple at Boots)

Nivea Q10 Night Cream – £9.99 (currently £4.99 at Boots)

Witch Anti Blemish Primer – £6.99 at Superdrug

I need a rich moisturiser as my skin is very damaged due to scarring and get very dry very quickly. I love the feeling of a nice thick moisturiser and face cream but this is definitely not too thick. It works fast and as it is from the simple range it is designed to be “Kind to Skin”.

The Nivea Q10 was given to me by my Mum because she wasn’t a fan. She has the opposite skin to me so she can be quite oily which makes some products to her difficult to use. Why she didn’t like it I’m not 100% sure but I think it was just a general dislike. I personally love it again because it has a nice thick texture. I like to know my products are working and this is one those that I can instantly feel working. It is always good to start on the anti wrinkle creams early to help prevent the buggers!

The Witch Primer was recommended to me by my sister, Shannan. I find that it genuinely has helped my acne especially after all the drugs from being in hospital. It helps fill in my pores to create a smooth base ready for my foundation and it does this without clogging them. Exactly what I look for in a primer. It is oil and fragrance free so again, perfect for the sensitive skin!

I think I have made it clear I like a thick face cream, I also like a heavy coverage on my face with my foundations. I know it sounds a lot, but I am self conscious of my skin because of the damage teenage acne caused me :(. I find that Max Factor foundations give me the great coverage I want without the cake face that everyone dreads. I use the cover stick on it’s when I am having a great skin day, but I will use the cover stick underneath the foundation as a good base when my skin isn’t so great. I always try to the palest shades to compliment my skin. The coverage makes me feel like for once I have flawless skin so at the moment it is all I wear! I have previously wrote about the Colour Adapt, and you can find that HERE. The Lasting Performance, once again Max Factor has kept their promise, and it does exactly what it says on the tin. I am SO impressed with Max Factor, the have a devoted customer in me! ALL MAX FACTOR CURRENTLY 3 for 2 IN BOOTS

IMG_5254

Colour Adapt Foundation – £9.99 in Boots

Lasting Performance Foundation – £9.99 in Boots

Pan Stick – £6.99 in Boots

I am one of those crazy people who CANNOT live without a powder. I hate the dewy finish because it makes me feel like I am greasy and slipping around the place. It is very rare I stick to the same powder and it is very rare I have more than one at a time. I don’t know why but it is the only product that I don’t have loads of! At the moment I am wearing Essence. Oh my god ladies, get to Wilko NOW! I found out about Essence through tonnes of bloggers around Europe and how my mother nagged me to buy her some when I went to Spain. I came back from Spain to this beauty in Wilko and I can’t believe the quality of all their products for the price! The Powder is amaze balls for the price and I must say I will repurchase! I get a little oily at certain times of the month and I find that it isn’t strong enough to hold through the oil all day, but it takes seconds for a quick top up and so I don’t even care! It is from the Mattifying Range so gives me the lovely matte look that I love.

 IMG_4854

The Rimmel Wake Me Up is a little gem found in Poundland of all places. I use it when I looking for an all day coverage and it helps my powder hold that little bit better. If I am looking for a light coverage for a more natural look, again this is amazing! It doesn’t leave me feeling greasy and holds in place.

The ELF blusher is a beauty. It is perfect for a night out simply because it has a little bit more glitter that you would wear for a day time blush, but the pigmentation is great for the price. I have had this blush for over a year now and it’s still going so you don’t even need to use much at one time! Perfection!

The MUA highlighter is so inexpensive that I had to buy it. MUA is only sold in Superdrug at all their products are super pigmented. I have nearly all their eyeshadow palettes so I knew this would be great little product. Although its great it can take the smallest amount to be too much. If you apply too much it can leave you looking too shiny, so just be careful when applying!

IMG_5270

Essence Mattifying Powder – £2.80 Wilko

Rimmel Wake Me Up Liquid Blush – £1 Poundland

ELF Blush – £3.95

MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter – £3.00 Superdrug (Currently 3 for 2)

I did have loads of eye makeup to show you as well but I will save that for part 2 tomorrow so make sure you check it out.

Goodbye for now my loves! xo

Hair | Mark Hill

Well hello once again to all my followers, and hello to all the newbies!

How have you all been over the last few days? I have been working so trying my hardest to get some blogging done but by the time I sit down to write, my eyes go all droopy and that’s the end of that idea!! Typical!

But I am back and will be again tomorrow as it will be my day off then too!! woohoo!!

I recently sorted out some of my beauty storage and to find new homes I had to go through and sort out the contents of all the old homes, and I came across a few goodies that I received at christmas back in 2012. My bestie, Hannah, got me a beautiful set but I always end up just using the shampoos and conditioners when I am gifted with sets for hair – super naughty but I get stuck in routines and habits and stick with what I know. But coming across them, I once again became intrigued and just had to try it out.

The Mark Hill set was designed for styling your hair straight, which is why it was bought for me. My hair is a lot more manageable when it straight so that’s how I pretty much style it every day. It came with a shampoo and conditioner that helped the frizz and to help it stay straight once you have styled it, and it was accompanied by a straightening heat defence and straightening cream. Heat defence is always a bonus as it is handy if you go on holiday to a hot destination or just generally using heat styling tools.

The packing is absolutely beautiful!

Image

And I tell you what – the product is amazing too.

I apply a small amount in the ends of my hair after I have towel dried it but before I used the hair dryer. Spritz on some heat defence and then blow dry. I have so much hair that it usually takes me ages to dry my hair, but even with leaving my hair to dry naturally (another time consuming process) it pretty much slashes that time in hair – easy peasy.

After drying my hair, I then straighten it with my shiny new purple GHD’s I received for Christmas. My hair was so shiny and sleek that I have used it every time since! My hair doesn’t get as greasy as quick and smells lovely. Nothing like turning your head and getting a waft of a nice smelling hair product!

A full sized bottle can be found in Boots at the small price of £5.99 and you will also be able to find products by Mark Hill in the straightening range, including the Shampoo and Conditioner as well as the heat defence. http://www.boots.co.uk
