Hey there!

I am back once again, and a lot sooner than I think anyone anticipated! Including myself.

The response my blog post last night received was amazing and has genuinely just kicked me up the back side to really continue something I started and that I know I love doing. With the ups and downs I have had so far this year my motivation has really been shot down in almost every aspect of my life so really looking forward to building my confidence back up and really work towards what I wish to achieve!

So lets get started then shall we!?

I thought after blabbering on for ages last night a small post today will be more than enough rather than boring you all!

Today’s post is all about the….LIPS!

If you have been a long time follower you will know that lips just aren’t my thing, but you will be impressed… I have gone from having just 5 lippies, to now owning around 20. This is a vast improvement so I thought I may as well show you just a couple of my current favourites!

Here goes!

Rimmel London Apocolips Lip Lacquer in shade “Eclipse” – £6.49 in Boots

Revlon Colour Burst Lacquer Balm in shade “Provocateur” – £7.99 in Boots (Revlon currently 2 for £10)

ELF Luscious Liquid Lipstick in shade “Pink Lemonade” –  £1.95

With my lip colours, I go through phases of wearing a nude everyday, a everyday or just a balm, but it has got to the point where if I have nothing on my lips I will go mad until I can get my hands on something. It just feels uncomfortable so I have to carry my balms with me everywhere at the moment for an incase of emergency!

For a very natural day where I am looking for a very subtle hint of colour with a glossy finish, I wear my ELF Luscious Lips. It is a twisty tool to get the product out so the product is kept fresh and doesn’t turn gloopy. I love glosses like this as it makes it easier to apply. The best rule to follow with these types of applicators is to work along the lines of less is more. It is easier to build the product up on the lip than to twist too much and end up with slick lips that are continuously sticking together and looks like your mouth is melting or your just the strange dribbler walking down the road – not cool. So always start with a thin layer and a apply small amounts at time. The colour is beautiful and is one of my faves. I recently bought the “Cherry Tart” shade too and is slightly more reddy and just as pretty!IMG_4757

My Revlon Colour Burst was only bought after watching every YouTuber speak about it and every blogger writing about it. I just HAD to see what the fuss was about. When I do this I find myself being disappointed and I have such high hopes after the amazing reviews, so I used once and put it away in my drawer. I recently rediscovered it and applied it feeling I should give it one more try and it is currently my favourite red colour! It glides smoothly on the lips and isn’t too thick like some sticks. It has a minty smell/taste so thats just never bad thing and lasts a lot longer than most reds. I can’t believe I completely disregarded this from the start! It is definitely a must have in your lipstick draw!

Finally there is the Rimmel London Apocolips. I spent such a long time looking for which colour to buy and I am always so drawn to burgundy shades, so Eclipse was a winner for me. I do have the nude one as well but that can be a little too pales for me depending on my makeup. Coming in to Autumn is my absolute favourite time of year and with the lovely English rain at the moment, I have definitely been rocking this when I can. It is very difficult to apply simply because of the deep colour (Stains so easily) so I wouldn’t apply it if you hurrying out the door. It has a beautiful finish though and lasts a relatively long time for a lippie. It is very dark to begin with so I simply apply to my bottom lip and rub and just use the remainder of the wand to go around the edges to ensure my lips are perfect. The finish is glossy but the right amount of glossy! It takes a lot of patience with any dark colour, but its just too beautiful! I will be wearing this every opportunity I get with the arrival of the colder months!

And there we have my current favourite lip products! All have great pigmentation so the colours come out just how you expect them to! Have you tried any of them? Let me know below or on the links below!

Goodbye for now my loves! xo

Neglecting Your Blog Is a Crime.

Good evening my beautiful friends!

I apologise sincerely for my absence, but I feel now is the right time to get back up and running.

Over the past few months I feel that I have completely lost touch with who I am and what type of person I really am, but now I am ready to start working on improving me, myself and I.
I have neglected what I love and I have suffered for it. I can’t say the last few months I have been truly happy, which snowballed from being one problem to a millions problems, however, I am not going to sit there and accept it. I will work on improving my quality of life and work on my ambitions.

I will work on myself, as long as you all promise to work on everything you could wish for along side me. Whether that be just make time for you loved ones, save for a holiday or even treat yourself, everyone needs hope, inspiration and a little help every now and again, and I want us to do that together. So there we have it. Let’s do this, girls.

Cringe, right? Oh well.

It is genuinely surprising at how little I have to show for the last few months. But here goes…..

BirchBox | February Box

Hey there guys!

How have we all been this week?

I am completely aware that I have been missing this past week (once again – I know) but I have been working to get this week over because I am officially on annual leave for the next week and a bit! woo hop!!! Cue the balloons and streamers!!

But never fear, I am back! I get paid this week and as it has been yet another tough month, and having spent less than £10 on beauty products last month, I think I am owed a little mini Haul, so keep your eyes peeled… I am soooo excited!!

Here is a quick up to date selfie – testing out my new eyeliner (see below)

Image

Anyway, let’s get straight to it shall we!

I was very sceptical about this month’s BirchBox especially with the disappointment of my first one a few weeks back. But because they automatically take payment I couldn’t cancel it, so I thought I would give it one more chance!!

I must admit I was much more pleased with my products this month and was very excited to try them out.

I opened it back on Valentines Day but because my boyfriend, Dan, had organised a little surprise for me, I had no chance to test or blog over that weekend, so unfortunately it is a week late! (I am sorry, you can slap my wrist later). But I would rather post about my box after I have tried the products out so give you a (hopefully) good read!

So, the first product I saw when I opened the box was………..(drum roll please)

Image

The Eyeko Liquid liner. There are no words to describe my love for liquid liner so I was extremely pleased to receive this product. I have read that every subscriber had this in their box – making me feel special –  but I can completely understand why this was a big product for them. Being a reasonable size, this product will last me quite a while. Retailing at £12 per pen, it is more than I would spend on a liner, but I might consider repurchasing it when my sample has ran out. I gives a very nice line, as it has an ultra thin and stiff tip, so it helps you be more precise when applying. You can build on it to make the black ultra ultra black or make your line even thicker. I love liners that allow you to choose how you apply it. Nothing worse than applying a thick line when you aimed for a nice delicate one. It glides along the eye nicely, so no eyeshadow gathers and doesn’t scratch you eye lid. I must admit that the product has lasted me all day as well as promises to be smudge free. I am an eye rubber, so my eyeliner tend to fade throughout the day, but this is one that I can honestly say has held the best. The packaging is lovely too. Overall a very good product to have received! Woo!

This product is AMAZING. The Beauty Protector Hair Oil. I am completely and 100% in love with this product. Retailing at £16 I was at first unsure about investing in it, but I know that hair oils always last a long time so would be completely worth it. It promises not to leave hair feeling heavy or greasy, and helps protect the hair making it shiny and frizz free. Coming from someone who has nothing but frizzy hair and has to wash it at least every other day, I have discovered this does wonders. My frazzled ends from using heat all the time due to frizziness, once my ends soaked the oil up it felt like I had just had my hair cut – not even kidding. It helped my hair dry naturally nice and quick, so there was no need for my hair dryer. I applied just a pea sized amount and only on the ends when my hair was damp. Applying hair oils to the roots will leave your hair heavy, greasy and flat so do try to avoid this when applying. I did this on Sunday when I dyed my hair to see how much damage control it would do. I only then washed my hair again on FRIDAY. Having only used small amounts of Batiste’s dry shampoo I had no need to wash my hair whatsoever. THIS NEVER HAPPENS. In fact I had more and more compliments on my hair the more the week went on, and when I said that I hadn’t washed my hair for 5 days, they looked at me like I was from the loony bin. I did give in and wash my hair only because it was getting weirder and weirder for me not to. 10/10 product.

This was a full sized sample of the ModelCo Party Proof Lipstick and my face when I opened it must have been a picture of complete shock and excitement. I have never heard of the company but I was so happy to try out another piece of makeup! I love makeup so much. I had the colour “Get naked” which is pretty much what is says on the tin – a nude lipstick. I don’t own much nude because I feel that it can sometimes wash me and my already super pale complexion out. Now, with all complete honesty, it was not matte. It clearly says on the packaging that it is supposed to be matte, and it really wasn’t. It had a subtle shine to it, infact was probably more moisturising than anything. When it says “Party Proof” I would expect it to last at least half a night out – at a push it lasted an hour. I will continue to use it but it certainly isn’t worth £15.50 (for a trio) and I wouldn’t buy.

I haven’t had a chance to use these two products as yet, but I am looking forward to the facial wash. Shower Gels are very hit and miss with me as I can have very sensitive skin. Shower gels and bubble baths especially can cause some irritation so I am always quite hesitant when trying something new. I do have sensitive skin on my face, but there is something about the product that is luring me to try it. Again quite skeptical about trying it, but it says that it naturally brightens and balances skin tone. Getting blemishes and redness, I am hoping that this is true. Only one way to find out and this is to try it – so I will try it this week and get back to you. Looking on the BirchBox website, the facial wash is sold out so that can only mean good things 🙂

And finally… Image

BirchBox, you have found the way to my heart. Chocolate. Dark chocolate is recommended when dieting. As it is very rich you do not need a lot to satisfy the chocolate craving. Although nothing quite beats a nice bar of Dairy Milk or Galaxy (I think galaxy is called “Dove” in the America) this was very nice and the tiny little sample, really did hit the spot. It can be bought in most supermarkets or local shops and is between £1 and £3 depending on size of the bar. I would recommend a small chunk and cuppa to hit that chocolatey spot when trying to be healthy. Yum.

Did any of you get this month’s BirchBox, what was your thoughts? Let me know!!

Work Work Work..

Hey Pretties,

The past couple weeks have been absolutely crazy with work and what not, but I do owe you a new blog post, and I have been saving up some goodies for you lot!!

I have been shopping (my poor bank) to try some new things, but for things that I have needed…(my partner definitely thinks it’s just stuff I “want” but he’s a man, and just doesn’t understand needs of us ladies.)

Trying to think of where to start is so difficult but I think I am going to start with one of my favourite topics…Hair! I am obsessed with my hair, always wanting it changed, but never brave enough, trying hide the roots, trying out new up-do’s and what not, but my hair is soo frizzy and thick, that sometimes I think it just needs chopping all off! (Never in a million years, but frustration does give me an imagination!)

I have come across a new hair dye. This is one I have been using since I went from blonde back to brown (sob sob) to save the condition of my hair. I chose this one specifically because of the name. “Hair Mask”. Anything that is a mask, in my eyes will have a lovely conditioning treatment included. Not only does it leave my hair, soft, shiny and looking healthy but it so easy to apply all by myself (I type this with a smug face right now). I have also required help as it is guaranteed that I will make a mess with a bottle.

Image

Basically, you mix the solution into a small tub and shake until it is well and truly mixed together. and you simply apply it like you would a hair mask (though making sure the roots are a priority) I section my hair from the bottom, working my way up and only applying to the roots. When roots are covered I will make my way to the ends. Even though there is not a lot of dye solution (when is there ever) I manage to still only need one box. At £6 a go in Boots, I would hate to buy two boxes for my length of hair because most it would go to waste. However, I recently discovered its only £4.50 in Wilkinson’s. Depends on whether you want the points in Boot’s.

Another one of my amazing finds is this beauty…

Image

I have grown extremely attached to Herbal Essences. I LOVE their conditioning masks and everyday conditioner as well as their shampoos. My two favourites of theirs are the blue bottles (designed for super moisturising) and the Yellow collection (designed for strength).  The smells is delightful and works well with my Coconut and Almond leave in conditioner (£1.39 in Boot’s own brand collection). It costs around £3-£4 in Boot’s, but you are bound to find Herbal Essences in some kind of deal, more than likely being 3 for 2. Using the two together allows my hair to dry quite quickly and with less frizz. Not 100% less frizz but it has become so much more manageable, especially on days where I genuinely can’t be bothered to do anything with my hair.

Because one of the major problems that I have with my hair is Frizz, I have recently decided to reinvest in these particular products.

I have used the 3-day-Straight before, and I remember absolutely loving it, but the price tag always put me off. I know it is only about £6 to buy but somethings I find extremely difficult to justify. But these two were in an offer I couldn’t refuse, 2 products in the John Frieda range for only £8. Saving almost £8 altogether. The heat defence smells sooooo good!

The 3-day-straight is supposed to keep your hair poker straight and non-frizzy for approximately 3 days without having to restyle. Obviously I find not washing my hair for 3 days (even with a dry shampoo) extremely itchy, but I know that the two days works a treat. Obviously in the pouring rain it won’t work too well but with the humidity that good old Britain has had over the past couple weeks, I desperately need to tame my locks! All you need to do is spray generously in damp hair and brush through. Same with the leave in conditioner and strengthening cream.

It does sound like a lot of product, but honestly my hair has never felt better! Also have a day or so off, leaving you hair completely natural. I tend to tie it up in a high bun or a nice side plait at least once a week with absolutely no product. (a working day or a day when I am not required to go out).

Finally, I bought these tongs back in July and have been using them off and on since. Now, I am SO useless at GHD curls on myself, so I was desperate to find a thick barrel for my curls, so I have my thin curls and my nice natural looking beach waves. Looking for some decent ceramic ones at a good price can be difficult, but honestly, these have to be THE best buy ever!!

Image

Now I didn’t want to invest in some fancy pants tongs, because I tend to straighten my hair (quicker and less hassle) but as I wasn’t sure how my hair would hold or look when using a thicker barrel I didn’t want to spend a fortune anyway.

So as you can tell I probably didn’t spend a lot. I also came across these taking my mum to do a quick bit of shopping in a supermarket….

I spent approx £7 on these baby’s in ASDA!!!! It is Asda’s own brand and I can honestly say, hand on my heart, best things EVER!!!! I’m not even a fan of the pink, but it was totally worth it!

My result after using them….

Image

I am not the best stylist when doing my own hair, but I love the wave/curl they give my hair, to be it looks effortless. The best thing is my hair even holds the curl with only a tiny bit of hairspray!!!

I would recommend anybody to invest in these, and at £7, why wouldn’t you?!

I have so much more to share with you guys so I will be posting soon, Keep an eye out.

xx
